I see that David Sheepshanks is returning to the board in an honoury role. The
man that is wholly responsible for our current malaise in my opinion! It is a long charge sheet!

He damn near bankrupted the club as it went into administration by offering ridiculous wages to players without inserting relegation clauses into their contracts and at the same time taking out huge loans to redevelop the stadium. All based on 2 seasons in the Premiership.

Sacked the 3rd best manager we ever had in panic after he told George Burley that he had to sell our best players to reduce the wage bill which was down to his own profligacy.

Agreed to selling our prized players for absolute peanuts Darrent Bent, Darren Ambrose, Matty Holland, Marcus Stewart, Herman et al.

Sold out to the "mysterious one" with a nice big golden goodbye for himself and then claiming that he had found our saviour!

Apart from that welcome back Sheepy perhaps you can lend Cleggy a hand but based on your previous maybe not!

I think it's unfair to blame it all on Sheepshanks. He did make mistakes yes. He had a part to play in going into administration but let’s not forget Burley spunking £4.5 mil for Serini and £3.5 for Finidi. Also ITV digital going kaput didn't help.

As for sacking Burley (who I loved and still do to an extent) he hasn't gone on to do anything great since.

As for player sales most of those were needed as we need to sell quick to balance the books or the players were on short contracts so we needed to accept lower offers.

I believe he has always had the club at heart, I think much larger portions of the blame lie with Mr Clegg, Mr Keane and Mr Evans. Face it if you had been in Sheepshanks shoes when Evans came and said he would pump loads of money into the club would you have stood in his way?

I’m not saying he’s perfect but he was a loyal servant to the club

True, like I said he did make mistakes but I don't think all the blame lays at his door.

The man who got us into Europe, made some mistakes and then got us within an inch of the Prem again. Compare that to now Warky!

Yeah the man that bankrupt our club sending us into administration after spunking £30 Million on stadium redevelopment when were not an established premier league club! It's thanks to Sheepy that we are now being run by a total non entity who has no interest in football whatsoever! Its thanks to Sheepy that our once great club has been turned into a complete laughing stock!

It's also thanks to Sheepy that we have a good sized stadium and training facilities that are completely ready for our return to the prem. If you look at it long term he may have made the correct decision to redevelop when he did. Sure we nearly went bust and have gone backwards but if we can get it together and get promoted we have the stadium size to bring in good revenue in the prem. I'm not defending some of his daft decisions but I am proud of our stadium and facilities.
We have the 22nd biggest stadium in the country (not including Wembley), certainly something to be proud of and something that wouldn't need addressing should we be promoted.
Bigger than
Bolton
Stoke
West Brom
Wolves
Fulham
Portsmouth
Swansea and
Blackpool.
All teams in the prem or have been recently, promotion could bring bigger gates/revenue than all these clubs. Think about it.
