I can understand we followers of BCFC are digging deeply in to our crystal balls to predict the outcome of the games that affect our survival in the Championship. I see a major fly in the ointment for some of the potential games that may affect us, or our relegation rivals, in that some of the opposition in these games have their season already locked up and may prefer to play some experimental line-ups.

Go through the fixture list for all the possible relegation candidates and see if there are any matches that fit the bill where their opposistion don't give a flying moose if they lose or not.

If we get 1 more point Donny can't catch us.
If we get 3 more points Pompey can catch us And we go down on GD. 4 points and we are safe from them.
If Coventry win all remaining games (12 points) they can potentially go up to 17th (currently Posh).

So according to my maths all teams above 17th now cannot be caught, and therefore could become a negative affect on teams below them by playing weakened squads.

Because some of the higher teams are still potentially promotion candidates the weakened squad syndrome may not appear until the games on Tuesday April 17th and beyond.

    Games affected.

    Pompey vs Crystal Palace
    Pompey vs Derby

Last weekend scares me the most if it is still a factor.

    Soton vs Coventry.

Am I being paranoid or should I just have more faith???? Don't know how much more I can take.

    Hi Mike

I really think you need to dismiss Doncaster and Pompey. They are both doomed, and the latter have just revealed they are some £58m in debt so even if they were to survive, which I don't think they will anyway, they are either going to get wound up, or liquidated, or get more points deducted etc.

For me the final relegation place is between us and Coventry, and perhaps as a long shot, but still unlikely, Barnsley. Everyone else (Forest, Millwall, Peterborough etc) are already safe

Saturday's games will be crucial we need to match or better Covs and Pompys results.

Then for the following games this is what I hope happens

Millwall lose Saturday so need to beat Cov on Tuesday to guarantee survival.

Coventry have to travel to Southampton last game of the season, who should by then guaranteed promotion, but if Reading beat them or they draw tomorrow night, should be in a fight for Champions so would need the win against Cov.

Donny hopefully beat Pompy on Saturday in their last final push for survival.

Doncaster as they are confirmed down if they lose or draw with Middlesboro, play without pressure against Cov and get at least a draw.

I'm glad we are facing our 2 hardest games of the 4 first

We have done well against teams we have already beaten, so Barnsley and Burnley we have already taking max points so far from both of these 2

As we all know city have never done what we expect them to do, so would not surprise me if we took 3 points from either Birmingham or West Ham and then lose to Barnsley!

It wont happen but if we beat Birmingham that's it game over for the bottom 3 but we wont, so i can see it being decided on the Barnsley game, how great would that be, to secure championship status at our last home game and go into the final game with NO pressure!
