Just a question? when was the last time a referee was applauded off the field at the Gate? cos he got a good round of applause from the Atyeo fans yesterday! Also when was the last time we scored two headed goals in front of the Atyeo faithful. Shame about the second half though!
Shame about the second half?? We dominated the game for 75 minutes, then 1 lapse of consentration and they scored.
Sure we kept the ball in the second half, but they were there for the taking should of never of eased up from the first half against them, we have a massive - goal difference should of went for the jugular and reduced that a bit!
We were thoroughly professional for the first 20 minutes of the second half, in complete control and didn't take any risks. We did go for the jugular and went to a back 3 to try and force the issue, the team lost a lot of its shape, Del noticed that and brought on Wilson to see the game out when it was clear it hadn't worked. Donny kept backing off and getting 8 men behind the ball on the edge of their area, complete damage limitation tactics until the goal and it was never going to be easy to break down. Very good performance all round as far as i'm concerned.
I admit it's all about a game of 2 halfs but hell WE WON and got 3 POINTS, well done Del and the boys... Onward and upward to Reading........
Spot on jambo. Sometimes the other team gets a say in these things and even though we were cruising at half time at 2-0 the next goal was going to be vital and shape the rest of the game, they got it even though it so easily could have been us.
