Hi guys and gals. We all like to slate officials for decisions which we think were wrong. But how many of us could actually do as good a job, maybe even better?????

Now is the time to find out. Take this quick 5min test and see how you would do in the middle.

I got 7/12 which is a League 2 Ref. I am happy with that, given that i have no training.

    Can you do better??

    Try it now: http://www.ultralase.com/vites/referee-theory-test

Interesting test... as a qualified official: 11/12 first time 12/12 second - see below.

Question 9 is skewed because there are two possible answers given the wording of the question.

It's an extremely windy day. A direct free kick is awarded to the defending team on the edge of their own six yard box following a foul by the attacker. The goalkeeper takes the direct free kick and the ball is blown back into his own goal, do you:

    a) Award the goal
    b) Award a corner kick
    c) Retake the free kick
    d) Reverse the decision, giving the opposition team an attacking indirect free kick from the same place

Without giving the answer away it depends on whether the ball enters play by leaving the penalty area before crossing the goal line. If the ball leaves the area then one decision applies... if it does not, i.e. the GK has kicked the ball directly into the goal, then a different award applies.

It was the one answer I changed. Alas there is no way of pointing out to the quiz master that the question is insufficient!

2/10 but then I attributed my support to Accrington Stanley........

I fell down on the "What would you do if an alien spaceship landed on the pitch whilst a penalty was being retaken due to the ball moving after an earth tremor?"

I got dragged in front of an FA committee to explain my alleged abusive language while taking this test.

I'll have a go later, when I have more time, but I'll let you know something that you might already know.

It is a hard job being a ref, everone is human. However, they need to get 100% of the decisions right of they are w"£$%&s

Don't know about that, i'm pretty sure that ref at Peterborough was rebooted at half time or maybe Deeney had a word with him...

We have had more than our fair share of refereeing muppets at the Vic over the past few seasons.

I will agree that being a ref is very hard. But there are some decisions which they consistently miss/ignore. Like Deeney being smashed in the head with a forearm every time he challenges for a header. I will however abuse an official who is poor.

It,s berks like you Daniel that help make their job so difficult. Gotta put up with prima donnas ON the pitch and blinkered people OFF it. Ever told a referee when he's got things wrong but in Watfords favour ? Maybe not eh, or more likely you'll say that decisions are never made in their favour.

I dont attend anymore, but one day you might turn up sat pm to watch your heroes and find theres no match cos the refs had enough and is staying at home.
When you start employment, someone should stand behind you and throw verbal abuse in the (unlikely of course)event you got something wrong....really the same thing as you're proud to do.I suspect you'd get a little upset !

I have admitted when officials got it wrong to Watford's gain too. I also recognise that it is a very tough job, but there are simple decisions which he or she should get right. Like when a player is being bearhugged and not doing anything back, or whether or not a player is stamping on another, or whether the ball goes in the net or a yard wide.

One of the problems is that there are so many players trying to con the refs and get them to make mistakes. And let's not forget , these are professional con artists ( why do so many of us and all those in the media refrain from using the word "cheat" because that is what they are). We accept all these cheats and do nothing about them because red and yellow cards have no long term effect, but all too willingly blame the ref who cannot answer back or explain himself. The refs we have are the best available, and if they make wrong decisions we should look at how the FA could improve their training, and lambast every manager and every chairman of every club to take effective measures to stop their players from cheating. When the players stop cheating then the ref's job will become a lot simpler and we will get a lot fewer contentious decisions.

I might sympathise but for your comments about Deeney. He is not "smashed in the head with a forearm every time he goes up for a header." He does what centre forwards are supposed to do...battles for possession. Sometimes he's fouled; as often as not he fouls the defender. Your comments often suggest you're inclined to wear yellow-tinted spectacles.

I've been to the Vicarage and complained to the referee.Seems now though people are often unable to accept that decisions cut both ways and generally even 'emselves out.I blame the 'ME' culture! If Fez is referring just to decisions against WFC he must come into that category too.
Trouble is Mr Dan you have to bleat on and on about how hard done by you are by decisions and even on other teams sites....as if theyre interested! I'd have to do some searching to find sympathy from you for the 'Orns opponents.Plus you seem to enjoy the term 'abuse',up a notch from just having a moan.
....do it to a large ref standing in front of you

Mexican you produced a classic Refs are human .........but must be 100% correct !!
