FC Red Bull Salzburg is an Austrian association football club. The club was known as SV Austria Salzburg, before being bought by the Red Bull company in 2005 who renamed the club and changed its colours from its traditional violet and white to red and white. The change resulted in some of the team's fans forming a new club, SV Austria Salzburg. Average attendance 20,000+ and playing in Europe.
SV Austria Salzburg was formed in 2005, by some of the supporters of the original SV Austria Salzburg after it was renamed FC Red Bull Salzburg by new owners, who also changed the club's colours from its traditional violet and white to red and white. The club commenced participation in the seventh tier of Austria's national league system in 2006, then rose through four successive championships to the current third tier. Average attendance about 1,000.

That doesn't appear to quite make sense, mate......

Average attendance both 20,000+ and 1,000?

(Or am I reading it wrong?)

The attendance of RB Salzburg is 20,000 and the reformed SV Austria Salzberg is 1,000. It's not that hard to understand really.

Sorry, mate - I read it wrong as it seems a bit confusing. It looked like the reformed club had the 20,000+ and I thought Ronster was making the point that the reformed club was doing brilliantly (unlike Red Bull).

    My bad!

I still don't really get your point though. Are we looking to re-create Hull City AFC a la Wimbledon?

Previous threads had looked for a similar set of circumstances to what we find ourselves in. My point is that nearly everyone carried on watching the original club, which has gone on to play in Europe with the might of Red Bull financial backing and the few who decided that they couldn't stay have formed their own club under the original club name (as some have mooted on this forum). If we did become Hull Tigers, my guess is that people would vote with their feet in a similar way here.

if this was to happen, rather than fighting our way through the dross of the lower divisions, couldn't we just buy Hall Road Rangers? I'm sure all 5 of their fans wouldn't complain too much...

Maybe we should go for a power takeover of North Ferriby, that'll show MR Allem

Surely it'd have to be a new club from the start if it was to ensure a Hull City AFC existed. I can't see there being much support amongst the objectors to just randomly buying a club and keeping them as they are, and it'd be a bit daft to object to us being renamed and then go out and buy another club just to rename them.
