Did anyone else enjoy Mark Lawrenson's description of Saints counter attack against City on MOTD2 on Sunday night where he likened the team to the Red Arrows? It was something along the lines of ...

"Look, there's 1,2,3,4,5 of them - in a row, they look like the Red Arrows"

Brilliant. ML is now my fave pundit on the BBC.

He also said we counterattacked with pace, which is factually impossible.

How can we attack with pace if all of our players are really, really slow?

There was 4 attacking players in a perfect 1 - 3 formation. It was beautiful to watch and a beautiful description. Lawro is still a twat though.

Apparently, Guly was our fastest player Sunday. I think that sums us up...

Guly was the most uncomfortable looking centre forward I've ever seen.

He's a pundit. An ex-footballer with opinions on the game like everyone else and he talks about them for a living. You can't hold an eternal grudge against someone who says something you don't agree with every so often. If every member of this forum was a pundit like him, you'd probably end up hating every single one of us.

    But there's 9 red arrows.

And they rarely fly in a row during displays.

Careful, I possess magical powers, and as soon as I can find something online which tells me exactly what those powers are, I won't hesitate to use them against you.

Actually, just 5 flew behind Concorde in that formation a few times. Now I've come to look at it again, Lawrenson's description was quite accurate. If you take away the fact that they are footballers and they don't have wings or fly at speed, that is.

Only seven in the formation team this year, 9 for Flypasts, due to a couple of fatal accidents and the departure of the only female pilot. Not a lot of people know that.

Anyone who bothers to post pictures of aircraft must have seen this programme this evening: Jet - When Britain Ruled The Skies

I did, and one hour slipped away quickly this evening. The first programme was on Britain's staggering array of Military Jet aircraft of the late 1940s, the 50s, and 60s. The second one focuses on the Civil types from the same era.

I knew that and I guess LincolnSaint also knew that. Every day we are looking up swearing at the noise pollution ;) then asking the nearest chav idiot if he has a laser pen that has battery life left.

FYI they are normally in a 4 or 6 when flying over here. Must take it in turns for sickies. Wish they'd turn it in though bloody racket an all. At least the Vulcan is grounded these days cos that used to be heard for ages after it had flown past.
