    It's probably not for the ambition of signing Young & Traore (don't get me wrong, I'm chuffed with both) but surely a higher profile signing or two. Is SWP that signing?

    Or is it that at age 29 (this week) he gets a lucrative 4 year contract that will see him nicely into a comfortable retirement. Not bad for a player written off more than once. Call me a cynic but...

    Ok. You're a cynic but.

    However I think he probably could have held out and the quality of the player(s) we are about to sign turned his head.

    Or, perhaps, Barton was the marquee signing after all....

    No wonder he left the Wigan game early. He was probably wondering what he's got himself into!
