I read in The Sheffield Telegraph, in an interview with the paper a suggestion by the Blades striker Chris Basham, that they should put a shot across the bows of the rest of Div 1 on Saturday, to lay down a marker, and he described the match as an excellent opportunity to do so."

Now personally that stopped me in my tracks for a while, but then I thought the vibe of our squad is very good, as has been obvious in interviews and performances. I would imagine that Cotts need only read the interview out (with personal thoughts on it) before the match, and that will be his job done !

If Sheffield think its going to be that easy, then either it is………in which case we may as well prepare for a video nasty
or its not………which means Mr Basham and his little friends are going to be rather red faced.

Personally I reckon it could work for us - it all depends on who performs on the day.
But Sheffield have upped the anti...

As I've said somewhere else, the pressure is all on them.

We've a dreadful record at Bramall Lane and they are favourites for the title, but opening day results dont always mean much

I still feel optomistic that we can get a draw

Come on guys, of course Sheff U players and fans will be up for this match and I would be surprised if they were not.
Perhaps the Bramall Lane tone is a bit more aggressive than ours but when I hear City players talking about promotion even before a ball is kicked and Sam being quoted as wanting 30 goals for himself alone, then we are hardly behaving like shy retiring violets.
The quality of football this Saturday, could be a damp squib as both sides realise how important it will be not to lose - the psychological and confidence factors of a good result for both teams may cause too much tension.
But our Robins will be up for it on a par with the Blades, I am sure of that. A nervy 1-1 draw?

A new thread for the Sheffield Telegraph

    Nice one Chris
Your new addition is an arrogant jackass

However, I still feel you will be our main competition for the title come next year, so don't get too po-faced

But today i'm afraid the best team won
