We're all pretty pissed off guys, no-one likes taking a 6-0 tonking, especially in a long-awaited local derby. But looking realistically at today there are a few factors that will send a message loud and clear. First, our back four were shyte, we knew without Traore and no recognised left back we were gonna be weak in that area and Orr playing on the right didn't help, he's just not PL class. Hall has always been a liability in my view and he's been brutally exposed here. With Young out of position there were always likely to be possible cock-ups and the quickly taken free kick that got Johnson his hat-trick was such an example. Conceding in the 2nd minute was all we needed to start the nightmare. Chasing the game we could easily be picked off by pace and that's what happened. Johnson had a red-letter day and with confidence soaring we were the fall guys. It was just a mixture of us having a very bad day and Fulham having a very good day. The one thing this will do is ensure that in January, regardless of how we are doing, three defenders of PL quality plus two strikers are absolutely essential to give us a chance of comfortable survival. There is no substitute for quality and adequate back-up in every position is needed. I just dread to think what would've happened if we hadn't made the Fernandes signings, looking at what Bolton have endured since they thrashed us gives you an idea of it!
Hard to disagree SH. Let's hope the pockets are deep enough. I guess they will take stock at Christmas.
Norwich and Swansea have had harder fixtures and seem to be coping better than us, at least they have avoided pastings like the one we got today, and they are pretty much the same sides as last season. This worries me a bit.
South Harrow is spot on. Norwich and Swansea seem to have adjusted to life in the prem. Well and truly beaten by the big teams and play to their true ability against the rest. It's only the first woeful performance since we signed those players, I'm as shocked as anybody but will take it on the chin. Our reaction v blackburn is critical, the transfer window is 3 months away so we can't hide behind that.
This is my thought exactly . Our system seems to have been found out and we dont appear to have a plan b.
shock to the system that result & no one would have forcast that going on form, barton needs to insert himself in more of the game, but really clutching at straws they was all poor, need to re-adjust team & formation against balckburn, thought we might get some hammerings but fulham.
Losing is one thing, and can be accepted, after all we are QPR supporters and no strangers to defeat. However the magnitude of the scoreline and - taking nothing away from Fulham - this wasn't against a top 6 side is indeed worrying. I remain unconvinced about Hall he's always been a liability and without Gabbidon & Traore we look very weak. No depth and I have to agree with those questioning Gorkss departure and Hill's loan at Forest. We have played the relatively easier sides than Norwich & Swansea have yet they sit above us and we've been twonked twice now conceding 10 goals in those two games. A big improvement needed now.
If everyone is fit I would play it: Kenny; Young, Ferdinand, Gabbidon, Traore; SWP, Barton, Faurlin, Taarabt; HH, DJ. I think Barton would be more effective in a central role and DJ could play off HH up front. Blackburn are in crisis, if we lose to them we will be in the shyte big-time with Chelsea, Spurs and City in the following three games...
Bolton only have 3 points and they took them from us. Wigan only have 5 points and they took 3 of those from us. Lets not gift Blackburn the same result meaning we've been beaten by the current bottom 3...............
We met Fulham on a high after a good result in Europe but that doesn't go any way to explain a walloping. We all knew we were thin on the ground in defence, and take out two, we get Hall and Orr in. IMO NW has made two mistakes (which I think he will recognise) - Sending Hill to Forest - And placing too much faith in Hall (eg over Gorkks) NW has a thing about Hall, he even made him captain last year - he must go. Orr had a reasonable game offensively, but was astray with the others in defence. Agree Sooperhoops 3 defenders and 2 strikers remedy - all Prem quality please, Tony
Hall Conners and Bradders can't really cut it at Prem level in my opinion. We really missed Traore and Gabbidon and I suppose to lesser degree Dyer too. If we had a long term injury to any of the key back four before signing any new recruits I would be genuinely fearful.
Didn't see the game, only saw highlights on MOTD. What struck me was the apparent going through the motions of the whole team. It wasn't even that their heads dropped after the first goal, it appeared that they didn't seem interested in what was going on, more like disinterested spectators at the scene as opposed to active participants. When they were chasing AJ or Zamora it was like they were saying to themselves " this is what defenders do, isn't it" when they weren't really bothered at all. Even the reaction to the result by the pundits was kind of muted, like it was no surprise and in anyway the game was of no consequence at all. Were they really QPR players or a herd of doppelgangers? It was like an episode of Star Trek, only scarier.
you didn't miss anything twins i can assure you of that motd made it worse, they had so much space on the flanks & everytime they attacked you could see them scoring, at 6nil down with 20mins left i was grateful of 6 in the end, nw needs a re-think on starting 11 & formation but lets hope it was just a one off as i can't more of these unacceptable performances especially after forking out 50quid to watch that.
By sending Hill out on loan NW has got his pants on his head this morning. It was clear that he was looking for more defenders before the window closed and was therefore well aware of our frailty. It is not his fault that some deals fell through but having failed to get them it makes no sense at all to loan out your cover for a key position. That is underlined by the very public rollicking he gave to Traore last week - he could see how exposed his absence would leave us but again, why couldn't he see the risk before the Hill deal was done?
My biggest concern at the moment. Clearly we were in trouble and no changes until half time, I don't just mean personnel but the way we played. Surely the call should have come from the bench, they were making fools out of us. Blackburn Game now takes on a really important point in our season, It's a must win as we are against a fellow struggler but also we must get ours selves up after this weekend. Coming into the difficult patch of games, we needs some confidence else 6-0 will look like a good score! I really don't think we can afford to wait until the January window for new players, a new formation or a least a plan B when it's not working well. Again, I really think Derry or Faurlin need to be replaced by Joey, enabling us easily to slip from 4-2-3-1 to 4-4-2 when needed. Don't forget, if Joey isn't playing well we can always drop him to the bench as well.
Yep that's what I was thinking yesterday too. Really, we've had a fairly easy start fixture wise compared to them and we're on equal points. And as you say they have pretty much the team they came up with and are doing fine, we've brought in ''quality'' players and get spanked 6-0 by Fulham. What a depressing couple of days these are going to be.
Always preferred Ramage over Hall as a centre back as it's his proper position. Never convinced me at right back, but that's because he isn't one. However, Gorkks over both of them.
