Was chatting to a barcode mate of mine in the club last night over a lemonade or three and we came to the following conclusion.
What changes all the time at football clubs?
    The players, managers and owners.
What remains the same at football clubs?
The supporters, most like ourselves and the barcodes through thick and very thin and still going.
Ergo (not sure what that means but sounds good) the ones to blame for a teams poor performances are the fans.
So Bruce was right for knocking us and Quinn was right for knocking us, we should be ashamed of ourselves for blaming Bruce for all our recent ills.
To this end I have binned all my pre match rituals,
Not too much drink the night before, check.
No match gear on the bed to wear the night before, check.
Not getting drunk pre match, check (reluctantly).
Do not under any circumstances wear the new away top which has seen more defeats than the Italian Army, check.
So we are now going to win today and start a run of games unbeaten, I've done my little bit now for the team to do the same.

To be fair, this is one subject where I do have a mutal respect for our cousins up at NE1.

We call each other worse than ****e all year round but you know what, they like us, are absolutely unique in British football. There are not 2 other clubs in this nation that could pull in the numbers we both do week in week out, given the barren and success free decades we have both had (ours has been probably more so in the past 15 years), so both clubs are rightly proud of that support.

If arsenal, man utd and Liverpool hadn't won the title for over 75 years; or won anything for nearly 40 years, I can guarantee they wouldn't get 40,000 to 50,000.

This region would attract 70,000 to each club if we were man utd and that's from the local area alone.

Yes we are to blame. We are to blame for loving our clubs that much that they know they don't have to try that hard to win us over. Maybe if we were less loyal and more demanding, success would have been more recent but hey, we are what we are. The best regional supporters in the country. I wouldn't change that for anything.

A first for me but... Well said that man.
I suspect that fan envy is at the core of the southern based press obsession with knocking our region.

Totally agree Cest, this is probably the best post you have made in many months, please keep it up and give the constant Bruce knocking a rest, it's getting boring.
