We can talk about tactics and team selection until we're blue but there's one obvious difference that is perhaps too obvious... ... I'm actually enjoying watching QPR again for the first time in ages, under CR. Under HR, it was ****ing painful watching my beloved team, even last season where we finished near the top of the table and won promotion. I enjoyed about 5 games during HR's whole tenure. Ok, we're still not setting the stage on fire but some enjoyment has come back and the team has given at least a decent account of themselves in some good performances, albeit with some of the same defensive issues still monkeying around on our backs. So, the difference is clear to me. Even if he's gone by Summer, I'll still be grateful of the fact that he's had a proper go at trying his best at bringing some credit back into the team. =================================================== And now a totally different subject (don't want to be greedy and create 2 threads).... I truly hope we give Clinton Hill the biggest and best send off when he eventually leaves us. He's been here since 2010 and he has given QPR his all. He has been 100% committed in all of the many of appearances for QPR. The last 4 years have been painful, especially for having our real QPR spirit and essence brought into jeopardy, due to the way our club has been abused or mislead. And, yet, Clint Hill has been THAT kind of QPR player that we have craved more of, that we have so sorely lacked over the last few years, that type of player we used to have plenty of (the Lee Cooks, the Ainsworths, the Rowlands, etc.). He's often been written off, has been dumped for a younger model (even though his form hasn't dipped and was replaced by players who simply aren't as good as him, even at this age) and has been far too often played out of position yet has never complained and has simply done his duty. I would argue that he's been more consistent than Dunne or in fact anyone that has been here since he joined. He should be started in central defence, ahead of Crazy Caulker. He even wants to stay at the club in some other capacity when he stops playing. He's my favourite player of the last five years and a QPR hero. And when he scored today he held the badge in his hand and ran over to the fans. Clinton Hill, I salute you.
Nice post awjm, It's a bit too late for me to respond with an adequate measured response, I'll try to do so tomorrow. I need my bed now. I'm knackered after tonight's proceedings. Goodnight fellow R's.
Yep nice post....i too have a lot of respect for Hill. Has the heart we want all our players to have.... he is happy to be involved in whatever capacity he can, what more can you ask.
Good post/s awjm, if we go down then it is with all guns blazing, you can't ask more than that and it shows up Harry's pathetic lack of spine with his boring safety-first away set-up that produced zero points and zero enjoyment. As for Clint, many on the old 606 site were less than impressed when Warnock signed him but he is the epitome of everything you'd want in a 'leader' and has never given any thing less than 100%. I do hope he is retained in some capacity in the club as he has been 'Mr QPR' whilst surrounded by overpriced, overpaid shirkers who he has put to shame...
Brilliant post awjm. In short ....point 1.....I agree... we have our ( dysfunctional) Rangers back.... Point2 yes, what a player, what a man.....He said afterwards it was his first Premiership goal at the age of 37....so proud...so glad he got it.... I do hope they keep him on....he will build us up from the bottom
Good post. We may well not avoid relegation 7 we will only have ourselves to blame. However, the players & management are giving us 100%. That will do for me. Watching on a stream, I felt we looked far more solid after going to three (ok at times 5) at the back. When Doughty replaced Sandro we also gave the defence more cover. I would not object to starting on Sunday with the team we finished with last night, although arguably Dunne & Yun instead of Caulker & Traore may ne an improvement.
I agree with every word of this he has been an inspiration, fearless, modest, a true leader on and off the pitch and the fans that bad mouth him on this board should be ashamed of themselves!
The difference at the moment is 0.06 of a point Redknapp's points per game: 0.83 Ramsey's points per game: 0.77
7 points away from home compared to bugger all under Harold this season is a huge improvement don't you think?
No, there's been no improvement results wise. It doesn't matter where you get the points from. I do think he's doing his best under very difficult circumstances. I like him.
So do I and at least we actually look like scoring these days......we have given ourselves a chance, it's still stacked against us, but we're still in with a shout.... Did you see any of the game?
Shame the home form fell apart though - weird that, maybe Matt Phillips prefers a bit of extra width....ooerr missus!
Yeah, watched it on a stream. Defence is cack. Kranjcar was rubbish & Sandro should be replaced with Henry next game. Played well going forward 2nd half. We're so bad at the back you could see Chelsea putting 5 past us
I feel I that I have to comment on this A superb post that would reflect how the vast majority of Rangers fans feel I suspect. Well done awjm. This is one (two?) of the best posts that I have read across any QPR forum. I salute you sir
I'm sure you have. Let's be honest, he's a great character, 100% commited and I hope he's around the club for a long time, but he is not a premiership standard left back, as was illustrated by N'zogbia giving him the complete run around last night. And he himself said as much 3 seasons ago - the fact that we still play him there, when he is now a back up CB (if you have 2 decent CBs) at best, speak more about our recruitment policy than him.
In any logical world yes, but the beauty of this game is that....you never know. An early Sunday kick off may not help in generating the bear pit atmosphere we create for these derbies, but it will still be intimidating for some of the Chelsea players and Mourinho hasn't experienced it yet. If I didn't believe we had a faint chance I wouldn't go, but that may be pure stupidity. I'm sure we will score, would be nice for it not to be a consolation goal, but it is likely we will let more in, because we are truly cack at the back.
