Not a fan of Hobgoblin - but I suppose that is the beauty of real ales, there's an ale for eveybodies taste unlike most watery lagers Yellow Hammer (it's a Devon brewery that makes it I think) is amazing!
Do like a Badger poachers choice. Or anything from either Windsor & Eton or Marlow (Rebellion) breweries which are local to me.
Canberra (Windsor & Eton Brewery) is lovely, then King Goblin, Old Crafty Hen, Guardsman, Doom Bar and London Pride (regular and vintage).
Been to this place in San Francisco - http://www.zeitgeistsf.com/ - they do one or two decent ales but most of them taste the same with a different shade of brown. Also to make you laugh went in with a work colleague, who didn't like ales at all, he asked for a bud light!!!......the bar went silent, he was asked to leave by the door staff......we let him
Whenever I see 'real ale' I think of that boring chef Hugh Farmer Wafflestump going on about hops and dipping his black pudding in his pint. So I don't buy it. It's all a con. It's just puddlewater with piss and a bit of ethanol stirred in.
What a load of ****e! It depends on the puddlewater! Where did you get it from? A trough? A tractor Mark? What percentage of piss? And the ethanol? How much did you put in? Ya no nowt man.
Tend to find if the puddlewater is found within rotting hay or a week old cow turd it makes all the difference. However if the hops are grown in pig s**t then you are onto a winner!
Somerset puddle water in a pint glass, with 3 long beard pubes and a pork scratching floating on the top. I'd rather drink a litre of warm sick and the mangled juice from Paul Potts' suit jacket out of a tramp's mouth with a straw.
Some tasteless tossers on here, I have run a couple of Trad Ale Pubs over the years, some favourites are Theakstons XB, Hook Nortons Old Hooky, Wells Waggle Dance, Bishops Finger, Moles Mole Catcher, Waddingtons 6X, TT's Landlord and many more!
