Prediction League The Race For 5th!

Discussion in 'The Premier League' started by Hoddle is a god, May 10, 2017.

  1. Southampton v Arsenal

Saints could deal a hammer-blow to the Gunners' chances of finishing 5th, this season, when the two sides meet tonight, at the St Mary's Stadium.

I had access to tickets to go and watch this, but a prior social engagement prevents me from attending.

Before the wumsters start queuing up, I am having a drink with a business acquaintance from 6pm until 8pm, so will probably be back to catch the second half, from home.

Clearly, a win for the Gunners tonight will give them a strangle-grip on that all-important 5th spot, but a loss could give the psychological advantage to United, who will, I am sure, fight them tooth-and-nail all the way for it.

I welcome any result that means less pressure on Liverpool. The current lads handle pressure like a balloon presented with a needle.

Definitely an off year for Arsenal. It will be strange to not see them in the Champions League next season.

It's not on the TV, so you might as well stay in the pub.

Another ill advised thread as the author predicted Chelsea would have trouble making the top 5. :emoticon-0136-giggl

  11. Actually, you are wrong on that.

I did nothing more than pose the question whether or not Chelsea would make top 4 this season. Given the season you had last season, that was a perfectly acceptable question to ask. I didn't make any predictions whether or not you would finish outside the top 4.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, Skiddy. It enables us, for example, to answer the question that I posed at the start of the season, by saying that - yes - Chelsea are more than capable of finishing in the top 4.

I'm hoping Southampton play really **** like they did against us and play with 11 defenders going for a 0-0.

Give it a rest, Skiddy! You couldn't prove me guilty of nicking the jam even if you caught me with my knob in the jar!

Do your worst, son! I know what I wrote.

I honestly don't care where anyone lives...

Do I think you're the same person? I'd say about 85% chance you are. Do I care? No. I'd be a hypocrite if I did, the number of sock puppets I used to have on old 606 at times... Especially during the uprising when they went mod happy towards the end so everyone rebelled.

I just find the futile attempts to prove individuality amusing, and more the kind of thing that someone would do if running a.sock puppet rather than shrugging it off if wasn't true.

On old 606 when I first joined I was accused for a while of being someone else, I shrugged it off and after a few weeks everyone dropped it. Never felt the need to prove myself.

We won't brick it mate (except some saps on the LFC board). The bottom line is if we can't get 6 points from West Ham and a relegated Boro we don't deserve top 4.

What Arsenal and Man Utd do is irrelevant in that respect.

Pay money to watch 2 sides you don't follow?

I'd never do that, I go to games that don't involve Everton, but only if it's a corporate freebie or a gift.
