Hi guys, haven't posted in ages! Hope you're all well. Anyway, I realised that the shortlist for the Puskas Award has been released. Some great goals on there, but I was thinking are there any they missed out? What's been your goal of the year? http://www.fifa.com/ballondor/puskasaward/index.html One that I think they missed out is this beauty from France... While that free kick looked awesome, it was a lucky as hell knuckleball. Hard to give something like that many awards!
I didn't want to pick one with crap defending. Sorry Ben Arfa. Not sure where Cisse v Chelsea is though.
I've seen Alain Traore score a few of those... Top top player. No more lucky than your average free-kick. *EDIT* In fact I'm going to temporarily hijack this thread and turn it into the Alain Traore show. Apologies some of the clips being poor quality, and some of his best goals aren't in there, but I got quickly got bored of sifting through french videos looking for them, and that's the best compilation. Sign him up Nige!
I thought Norris's goal was one of the best I've seen in a long time. Loads of time to think about it, loads of pressure and he still hit the damned thing perfectly. At least we lost the lead to a worthy strike. Vin
The technique on this one is crazy - http://www.fifa.com/ballondor/puskasaward/video=1855696/index.html
Stoch should win this, Neymar second. Love how the way the keeper in the Stoch one just thinks "**** it, great strike, will move my hand out the way"
I absolutely refuse to acknowledge a nominee for a goal scored by a woman. The conditions of the goal are completely different to mens, so how can it be compared?
I think that's fair enough. The keeper looked tiny. At the top level of men's football, that's not going in.
The Norris goal was a quality strike, no denying it. And also the very last time a being a pompey fan was known to cause happiness And that Traore guy looks handy, but in all 4 mins of that vid, i didnt see him kick the ball with his right foot once. Do we need another Puncheon?!
He is very left-footed it's true, he attributes it to when he had a trial with United and was on the verge of joining, he had a discussion with Ferguson and was telling him that he was working really hard on his right foot, Ferguson said not to bother, because 'It's better to have one great foot than two average feet, just look at Ryan Giggs'. In the end he was unable to get a work permit and went to Auxerre, when they got relegated he hopped to Lorient. He's insanely talented, but doesn't want to leave France and once he does he's probably destined for bigger things than us. But who knows?
