Not really sure what the point of this thread is. But I’ve been reminded of the ridiculous progression we’ve made this season.

In all seriousness if somebody had told you in May that Jobe and Rigg would be our starting centre midfielders all season. You’d have worried. Right?

Likewise if you’d been told our new manager had just been relegated you’d have worried, right?

Likewise if you’d been told we’d sold Clarke for little more than £15m and not signed a new winger; you’d have worried, right?

Likewise if you’d been told maybe two years ago that O’Nien was still our starting centre back, you’d have worried a bit, right?

It’s just utterly bonkers. And I think we sometimes need to remind ourselves of this. It’s absolutely brilliant.

The progression of not just the young players but also players like Luke. The fact we’ve been able to actually improve our standing without replacing Clarke. The fact that we spent all summer chasing a pillock and ended up with our best manager in years.

love this club. Love what we’re doing. Mistakes have been made but undoubtedly we’re in such a better place than I think any of us would have expected.

    merry ****ing Christmas

Well put. Your post reminded me of some thoughts after the Sheffield United game. We weren't far off in terms of quality but they had the edge with that PL level experience. If we replayed the game next season with the same players I reckon we'd be the stronger side due to the improvement in our players. The way our progression is going, if Mundle was fit we would have a shout at being the better side when we play them on new year's day imo.

Quite right, I can't remember so many supporters being proved so wrong so often tbh.

That's not a dig at anyone because I'm including myself in that and, of course, you can always find an exception that proves your point such as bringing in Hemir for example. However we have been proved to know very little and way too often looking at things purely on face value.

Three things stand out for me whereby people have been convinced they know better than the club and were wrong.

First is the outcry from many people who seemed to have genuinely believed that Jobe was contracted to play every game purely to 'big up' his value prior to a sale in the summer ...

... in reality it 'bigged up' his physique, stamina and experience. He also seems fanatically committed to the club.

Second and more recent was a period when people were literally screaming for early substitutions and starting to doubt RLB. Over the last four games, including yesterday, he's made few substitutions, none early, yet totally changed games and recovered 10 points from 12 we were losing.

Third is the situation with Aouchiche who many declared 'useless' and wanted him 'sent back' whatever that means. It's been claimed he was 'banished' to play with the kids due to bad blood with RLB which is nonsense imo. The first team squad has to be coached first and foremost because they're on the coalface. Other players, like Watson, may play with the kids but are being continually assessed.

Sadly, despite Aouchiche being involved and useful yesterday, I had some nugget in front of me trotting out the same shyte about Poveda who's 'never a football player' and 'has had a series of injuries throughout his career'. I've absolutely no idea whether he'll be a good player for us but, on balance, I trust KLD, Speakman and the club ...

... clearly some people never have, don't now and never will because they think they know best.

When the crowd was announced yesterday there was a nanosecond before some imbecile said 'there's never 40,000 people in this ground' and as it's pantomime season I shouted back 'Oh yes there is'. Failing to see the joke he turned round to give me the benefit of his wisdom and how KLD is 'syphoning off the money'. So, as there was a lull in play and I hade a few people chuckling, I played to the crowd, asked if he was an accountant and how that could actually be done.

He swore at me and turned back to watch the game ...

... as I was on a roll I shouted 'See your credibility mate ... it's behind you' <laugh>

And he swore again which meant, legally, I'd won the argument <party>

Perhaps they could remove all the argument by reporting it as tickets sold rather than attendance, but of course that would remove the pleasure of calling out the idiots.
