We have seen more changes occur with our club than any other team in the football league in the last 10 years. Flabio and Co, Ray Jones, Bhatia in and out, Faurlingate, Joey Barton, 4 year plan,Cup exits, Mercenary gang, Wembley, poor Ale's knees etc and I know there are plenty more. Our roots are top flight football, but we missed the main thrust of the Premier League while scrimping about in the CC and L1. We all remember Les, Kevin, Trevor etc and while I am too young to have seen Marsh, Bowles and Francis I understand the rich history. BUT.....While we all thought that Flav amd Bernie with the Mittals, then Tony, we all thought of prayers were answered. Clearly not. I love Tony. Best chairman in the league. But definitely not the most able. Various managers have tried to harness the cash and spend wisely but have all ended up like kids in a sweet shop. The money has reduced our fears of collapse and the prospect of a new stadium is exciting. But we are not Premier League. No more than the likes of Burnley. We are are small club with some devout fans and a good history. But we are a million miles away from competing with average clubs like West Bromwich, Villa etc. And you can forget the likes of Everton, Newcastle etc. Look at Burnley, and Swansea. Even Palace last year. Quietly went about their business. Didn't go mad and buy a tonne of players and upset the team chemistry. We made that mistake 2 years ago. Never to be repeated again according to Tony Fernandes. But what do we see? Strange purchases like Isla and Vargas (n.b Dellatorre). Rio.......??? Really? !?! All the while, our up and coming reserves sit on their arses never getting a run. Would rather see Ehmer, Harriman and Petrasso get a run out for the last 15 mins than see SWP and Benayoun plod about aimlessly. They can't be any worse can they? Team chemistry is EVERYTHING!! No way did Isla and Fer even know their team mates names last weekend. What the feck is Steve Black employed for?! Surely more than spouting of a load of cryptic and generic crap on twitter and mopping the brow of Joey Barton. I also watch a lot of Basketball. Some of you may have heard of San Antonio Spurs. They have won numerous titles in the past 10-15 years or have at least made it very far in the playoffs. All down to a team that is virtually untouched. They are aging players. But what they lack in speed in athleticism, they make up in intuition and team cohesion. Important decisions are made in a split decision. How many times have we made a series of badly timed passes etc? And don't get me started on set pieces. All over the bloody show. We are so desperate to be Premier League that we are trying too hard to look like one, rather than play like one. We look more like the rich new money pikeys. There are so many issues at HQ that a few decent transfer purchases ain't gonna fix it. And I honestly believe part of the problem is Tony Fernandes. And I hate saying that. While Harry is the other half of the problem. I fancy my chances of getting a new, straight out of the catalogue, QPR shirt from a mush in shepherds bush. IT'S IN THE NAME!!!! HOOPS. **** me.
"Our roots are top flight football" http://www.theguardian.com/football/datablog/2013/apr/17/football-league-125-years According to the Grauniad we've only had 22 seasons in the top flight, far fewer that Leicester, Burnley, Sheffield Wednesday, Coventry, Charlton, Huddersfield and even Notts County.
The thing is, there is no perfect formula. Each decision that comes up must be made well. If you make most of them well, you have success. So, it doesn't matter what the player is on paper, you make a decision about him at the time, based on your knowledge and intuition. Benayoun was good for us, for example. When he got a run in the team he scored a couple, assisted and worked his socks off. It depends on the situation. So, I agree with some of your sentiments but it has to be as and when based decisions and they have to be good, well calculated decisions. At the moment there's a few silly decisions being made. Let's hope we learn quickly and turn things around. This season is FAR from over.
Good stat point Uber. But we are part of the original Prem - 92/93 season with the whole top London team blah blah..... What it feels like is that although we are premier league - it doesn't feel right. At least to me. Almost a bit like a spare part at a party. We scraped our first season back and we're beyond dreadful season 2. Last year was barely a barrel of laughs. Perhaps with generally unconvincing performances all of last season and scraping through by the skin of a gnats dick AT Wembley, it all feels a bit weird and wrong.
Toad, I understand your frustrations and share some of them. I woke up this morning feeling like our season was ****ed because of Remy going to chelshit, however it soon dawned on me that we were always going to lose him, so what the ****. We can't change things, so we just get on with it. Life has never been easy for Rs fans, but that's part of the deal. You Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs!!!
Strangely, Remy going has got nothing to do with it. Don't blame him at all. Nothing easy here, you're right about that. Maybe that's why were so ecstatic to see them win at Wembley.
We've **** and we know we are If only we had a magic wand I would love to see back as the great underdog who the neutral had good things to say about In less than a couple of years our fan base has become a fickle mess and we are the laughing stock we now have no option to press ahead which is good IMO but what QPR will become no one knows I hope we can unite and get behind our club
