Mr Quinn hasn't done much wrong in his time on Wear-side. That is until now.
I can't for the life of me can see why the club want to increase prices. Quinn want's the SOL full so he increases the price in the face of a country wide downturn in attendances. It just doesn't make any sense.
You only have to look at next weeks game, heading for a sell out! Why? Lower ticket prices for season ticket holders to bring extra people. That's why.
I don't go to Football anymore. I miss it badly but I have a young family to look after that said. I am over the moon I don't put any money in the pockets of todays modern footballer.
It stinks the way people like me are priced out of grounds while our "hero's" make in a week what I get in two years. Two years in which I'll spend at least four months away from home on the front line in a bloody dust bowl.
Is this really what the next level is all about?

Well thought out matey. If he lowered the prices, only negligibly, we'd lose a nominal sum and gain the hostile environment he wants.

    Strange tactics are afoot.

I dont really blame the players, as they get paid the going rate, and the more succsesful the team is, the more they get paid.

was just looking at how much each team gets

So we got about 20 million in prize money, and maybe pushing 20 million in gate receipts, but our wage bill is 53mil, it just doesnt add up does it (i know there is merchandise etc on top of that 40million, but you really need revenue from other places).

I really think we missed a trick when Nissan wanted to sponsor us, its all very well supporting the local businesseses and having them on the shirts, but it doesnt exactly make us a worldwide brand.

Man U done it with Sharpe, got the asian market, then tried it again with ALG to try to get the American market, its not just the cash from sponsorship, its selling the shirts/scarfs/flags etc (in other countries/continents).

I also dont really understand having friendlies in Ireland/mainland Europe, this summer I would like to see a couple in Egypt (if we get elmo) and a couple in Ghana, try to get a foothold in the African continent, it may not bring as much cash as Asia or the Americas, but its better than 0. (and i dont think any team has really cornered Africa).

but yeah the price of a ticket is far too high and in the grand scheme of things, putting it down by £10 a ticket wont make that much difference 15 million ish a season compared to 20mil and you cant get much for 5 million in football these days.

High wages work in American Sports because there isnt any transfer fees, so a team can trade 3 good players on say 4mil a year = 12 million and get a superstar and pay him the 12 mil a year, over here it would be keep the 3 good players on 4 million a year, and buy the superstar for 20mil + and then pay him 12 million a year so 44 million for basically the same deal.

    anyway rambled enough lol

To break into the African market we need to get the lads to donate their old shirts, and for a local in that area to distribute, we could corner the market. To date i have spent 850 euro on shirts and have 92 converts in Kenya who keep spreading the word, we are fast becoming the in team in Africa. I axe you is we de best boys on de block , ya by a long chalk all the other only have support through success.

This year, it is likely that prices will be the same for existing ticket holders who renew early and those who delay to see what signings we make over the summer. We also don't know what the pay on the gate price for games will be.

Due to Sky & ESPN and their changes to kick off times (often at short notice) I have missed 4 games in the last 2 seasons due to work commitments, so have saved nothing by buying a season ticket early. Without a season ticket, mates who have one could have got me into the Liverpool match for a tenner. My nephew has also been offered cheap tickets for a couple of games through his school so I could have saved money by taking him (his dad is one of those strange blokes who doesn't like watching football).

I am all for these initiatives to increase attendances, but surely the season ticket holders are the lifeblood of the club. The club is guaranteed our money from an early stage allowing them to budget in pre-season. By raising prices for us so that our season ticket actually costs us more over the season than paying game by game, then the club is making a mistake. The cost of living is rising - wages aren't, and this area is going to be hardest hit by the ConDems cuts. The club should be reducing prices who commit to a season ticket early as a sign of goodwill, then they may see and hear the SOL full again.

Excellent idea. Would gladly help in any way on this end. People here are starting to take notice of SAFC, Asamoah, really big name now (WC2010 + form at SAFC). Had we signed Mariga I doubt the club would manage to keep up with demand here! Sadly, he's out of our league and couldn't get a work permit when Man City had a deal in place to sign him.

All clubs, not just Sunderland should slash prices.
The days of bleeding fans dry has gone. You can't take wads of cash from TV then complain when people watch the broadcast.
Money is short and to be blunt if it's a choice between spending thirty quid in the SOL or a tenner in the pub. I'll pick the pub every time.
Football clubs are so short sighted. It's simple.....
Cut the admission price and you will sell more tickets. More over priced shirts. More over priced beer. More over priced pies.

A pint of beer costs about 4p to produce. How much does our caring club sell it for in the SOL?

The only people that are goin to benift from cheaer tkts are those that actually live in and around sunderland. So in that respect if tkts were say £10 cheaper every hime game how many more would actually attend? not sure. Still think more would go to the pub because its more conveient.

To me its not the price of the tkt but more the journey and increasing fuel prices. it costs perhaps 5 times the amount of a match tkt for my round trip of 270 miles.

Loyality comes at a cost and if we got to a cup final how of the pub watchers would some how get a cup final tkt and a regular attendee missed out how fair is that, it always seems to happen.

I dont disagree with pub fotball however the matches that are screened should always be the away games

1/lets get it on then ballin start with Syd and a sticky for shirt donations

2/ ask Syd through his contacts for the club to help officially with collection and delivery.

3/ lets have your views on how you would hand them out what criteria would you use.

4/ When shipped how you you handle pick up from Mombasa

5/ Go the whole hog and get Sunderland to sponsor young uns with a kit in a certain league with decent coach and manager winning things so all the kids want to be in that team.

The ticket and price debate is rambling on on 606.

I saw a list that put us 10th most expensive with the mags 19th.

What gets me is the empty seats. We obviously can't give them away but if they made the surplus seats more affordable they'd fill them. Why charge for under 16s. they're the supporters of the future? Why not let them in for free with an adult paying say 20 quid at the turnstiles on the day.

I know people who have a financial difficulties and I know just how hard it is for them. They have to count every penny so give them something thet can afford. If Niall Quinn is sincere and he just wants to fill the stadium this is the only way.

The harsh fact is that the number of people at the poverty level in our region is higher than the national average and rising thanks to the recession
