... to beat one of the Big 4 (or Big 6 now) this season. You have done the double over the Swans and QPR but the Swans have beaten Arsenal and Man City and QPR have beaten Chelsea and Liverpool. It would be a good way to round off your season
It would be a nice way to round off our season, however there is no pressure on us to to so. I would much rather beat the lower teams and stay up then get a couple of token victories against the 'big' teams and go down. After all potentially you could get 78 points and a champions league place by just beating the rest or get 36 points beating the 'big six' and get relegated. Hypothetically speaking of course as this would never happen.
You're up now Tipsy! I was only pulling your leg about "pressure". But it would be nice if all three promoted clubs managed to beat one of the big 4/6. It took Wigan years to do it.
Would indeed be nice but I cannot see where our next win will come ATM. Hopefully we have done enough and with others below us having tough games left, hopefully we will be OK, but as QPR proved you just don't know until it is confirmed. Traditionally we play well against the bigger teams but come up short and then against lower positioned teams, do not perform. Bottom line is I will be there cheering them on come whatever. Good luck to you boys for the rest of the season.
Haha yep sadly I am working Yeah it would be a fantastic way to round off what has been a fantastic season. Pleased to see Swansea doing so well, play football in the right way with excellent managers and players. Nice to see both clubs prove the critics wrong this season and long may it continue. Pressure will be on the Swans next season to try and beat Norwich after back to back losses
You boys are the only team to turn us over big time at The Liberty this season (and you should have turned over Man U at OT).
liverpool at home could be the one to aim for/...... but we've beaten newcastle and they are above L/pool in the league
Every victory in this league is important, whether it be against someone like Chelsea, Liverpool, Man U or against a lower side such as Bolton or QPR. To say the pressure is on Norwich because they have not beaten someone like Arsenal, Liverpool or Man U is ridiculous, you could beat Man U 4-0 and still be face being relegated - thats when the pressure is on. Just because QPR beat Liverpool 3-2 the other night doesn't mean they're safe from relegation, Norwich beat Man U 2-0 at Carrow Road in 2004/05 and still went down. Yes I would like us to beat someone like Liverpool, Man C, Spurs or Arsenal but not at the expense of staying up in the premier league.
You could draw every game 0-0 in a season and get relegated with 38 points. If we are in the same league as a team I don't see beating any of them as giant killing. Beating Wolves on Saturday is more important than Arsenal at the end of the season. Get 40+ points and we're safe and it doesn't matter where they come from.
Nor will I. If we lose on Saturday - and I fear we will - then it could be quite difficult. On the other hand most of us would have settled for 4th from bottom at the beginning of the season and if that is where we end up we should all be satisfied.
I know what you mean about Saturday but it would be pretty staggering if Wolves were to win.Of all the teams down there they are the one that looks most at sea.OTOH a high scoring draw wouldn't be a surprise.
I'd say we played well enough in all our games so far against the big clubs (Tottenham/Man City aside) but we just haven't got so many positive results. What is of more concern is that teams like Wigan and Blackburn we've played when they're bottom of the league have really raised their games against us and we've drawn at home to both of them and been lucky to even get that... and Wolves at home tomorrow.
Blackburn were one of the best teams I've seen a CR this season, they were walking away from us at 1-3, we were very very lucky to get a point off them. I left a pile on my seat after that game!!!!!!! Wolves I'm afraid is a MUST MUST win game, no excuses, we've just gotta beat them and beat them well. Don't read this a being disrespectful to Wolves, but they are are very poor club/team at the moment, and we need to be ruthless against them. I also said that Wigan was a must win game and look what happened there! I think we are better than 14th place and I don't like to see us in that position, 3 points on Saturday will put us back where I feel we should be, 9/10th! ILD OTBC
I agree Delia that Blackburn were excellent. If they did go down (and not saying that about any team with malice) would like to see Hoilet (sp?) and Yak here!
