Same for me. Every season I take the Doris Day approach - "Que sera, sera".
I often wonder how some coped with the Le Tissier years, when we were invariably near the bottom of the table, week in, week out.
They must have been on sedatives.

We didn't have social media to enable herd-thinking and give the vociferous a loud voice.

Thankfully.

I was about seven, so I didn't care about anything apart from running around and kicking a ball! (I so vividly remember going to 'the great escape' game though. Unbelievable scenes!)

I'm working in Liverpool at the moment, and I hear the the guys in the office (almost all who support Everton from what I can gather) discuss football all the time. They to a man have Saints to go down. Saints and Sunderland are in everyone's three who are going down. Heard a few saying Stoke too, which would see the end of the red and white stripes' continuous tenure in the Premier League.

I haven't engaged yet, as have only just started up there, but interesting to hear how others view Saints. I was shocked - thought they'd be able to see we're a well-run club with intelligent people in charge, as well as decent players, and a CB, LB and GK who are all amongst the best in the league.

They probably had us to go down the last couple of years aswell. I am the only Saints supporter apart from my Dad that I know and have had to listen to piss taking about how **** we are, how we are doomed and how irrelevant we are for most of my life so you kind of get used to it. Coincidentally my Everton supporting flatmate yesterday asked me dead seriously if I would take 17th right now as there is no chance our luck can continue when we constantly sell our best players and the owner takes all the money out of the club.

Please make sure you point out that we finished above both of them last year, won't you. Scousers are all very keen on talking about the past.

Don't forget to ask how they think their European campaign will go, such big teams would hate to miss out on such a thing to little clubs like us.....

I was with a Liverpool Fan yesterday when the radio trailed Liverpool v Chelsea as the Friday night game. I commented that I didn't realise that European games were played on a Friday. He very enthusiastically pointed out it was a Premier League game...

I gave him a smug grin and pointed out we are playing Sparta Prague this week :)

Shots taken in the Premier League this season on a club-by-club basis. The darker the colour, the more shots from that area of the pitch.

And a lot of our shots are being spannered 30 yards over the bar like Redmond's against Arsenal

I think Liverpool fans are grinning right now though. 2-0 up at Stamford Bridge

Listening to Radio 5 Live's coverage of Chelsea v Liverpool. John Murray is conveying a brilliant image of the game. What also helps formulate a good picture in my mind is obviously the pace of the commentary, tone, pitch, crowd noise.
