Exactly, that's why there needs to be a wage cap. Go back to the days when titles are decided on merit, not who spends the most and buys the fewer duds for their excessive amounts, such as the NFL.
1-1 FT. Possibly the best result for us, although any result which doesn’t add 3 points to our total isn’t brilliant.
But that's what I'm saying, it's never been like that not just now. Would you complain if Eisner started ploughing money into Pompey and they rose up to the PL?
Yes. Where's the achievement if you can outspend everyone else? Anyone can do that. Though I wouldn't mind if they spruced up the Park.
The big spenders have always risen to the top Laps, it didn’t start with the Premier League. I remember being heartbroken in 1968 when one of my first Saints heroes Martin Chivers was sold to Tottenham for a then record fee of £125,000. That’s when I first realised than money runs football, and I would think it always will. Certainly does 50 years on from my childhood wake-up call.
I see you’re getting to my point.... you’ll get there eventually. I think every fan knows we’re in the **** and we haven’t done things as well as we could have. Do you enjoy continually pointing that out? I certainly don’t enjoy continually reading it.
I think it was Fran who described this season is strange . Not a peep out of the owner or board , very very strange imho .
Of course I don't get any pleasure from this season. It certainly also didn't make me happy that it's been incredibly obvious for a couple years now that our model was deeply flawed, yet pointing that out was cause to be dismissed as a moaner, bed-wetter, etc. And if we get back to the PL or manage to pull off a great escape, it would behoove us to have actually learned something from this ****show, to perhaps recognize it beforehand and try to put some pressure on the club's leadership to change it.
If the events at Leyton Orient, Blackpool, Charlton, Blackburn, etc have taught me anything, it's that fans can do naff all to change what a club's leadership does. We're powerless and the continued existence of our clubs are fully down to the whims of those who own them. Just pray you have a benevolent dictator, not a malevolent one.
