With every-one talking up Pompey's outside chances of the playoffs (only a few short weeks after worrying about if and when we would be safe!) I thought I'd have a quick run through the predictor. With our current vein of form I may have been slightly guilty of wearing blue tinted specs when I did it though, because if any-one offered me this I'd bite their hand off up to their elbow I stopped at 45 games and here's how it stands ... ... 5.. Norwich (+17) 75 6.. Leeds (+9) 70 ------------------------- 7.. Portsmouth (+10) 68 8.. Hull City (+7) 68 9.. Burnley (+8) 67 10. Leicester (+1) 67 Five teans can still mathematically take the final playoff place. Last day fixtures: Leeds: Away to QPR (already crowned as champions) Pompey: Away to Sc.unthorpe (already relegated) Hull: Away to Bristol City (safe) Burnley: Home to Cardiff (need a win to be sure of 2nd) Leicester: Home to Ipswich (mid table) If Pompey win and Leeds DONT win, we make the playoffs, unless Hull thrash Bristol City by 4 goals more than we beat Sc.unthorpe by. A bit optimistic of me I know, but you never know.....
Scunthorpe won today though Devon........ did you do your predictor after, or before, today's results were in?
Going in to the last game I have this: 1- QPR 44(GD) 88(PTS) 2- Cardiff 30 88 3- Forest 25 83 4- Swansea 22 82 5- Leicester 12 76 6- Burnley 13 72 7- Leeds 12 71 8- POMPEY 12 71 9- Hull 9 70 10- Norwich 7 70 Woah thats close!
Playoffs ?? Who would have thought that was on the cards a month ago !! For the time being I'll just sit back and savour the newest Pompey superlative (6 games without conceding).
