Came away from tonight a little gutted (even though it was hard to get too excited in a more than half empty St Marys) and thinking "typical" of the way we've been recently. We are not losing games by being battered, but it does seem that week in week out the best we seem to do is be as good as the opposition and the games seem to have swung generally on us switching off. Having reflected on the game in the car on the way home and the views of the Manager I am now feeling more positive about it. I hope that Nigel doesn't beat himself up too much as he did sound really down and I really like how he will always look for the positives. However maybe this is where he is tells his players a few home truths tomorrow and start from scratch. I think that this is what we have to take this opportunity as now. A chance of a completely fresh start to our season - it's all mapped out now - no unexpectancy of where and when we might have cup games - it's all about the league. Other positives I think are that after an initial 25 mins of pretty boring and average performance we did control a large part of the game, look positive and have some decent shots on goal (not afraid to shoot as it has seemed recently). Thought it was really good to get Bruce Lee a full game even though he didn't set the world alight tonight it's his introduction to build on. The return of the Chap will be a massive plus, albeit that again probably wasn't one of his best games he's got some mins under his belt. Steeevee looked fairly postive and again I think that's prob a return from injury as he's not been involved at all in last couple games. Lambo was quality when he came on and Ad looked much much better than he has in recent weeks (seems as if he still hadn't got over the groin before tonight). Although his distribution left something to be desired thought Bart made some really really good saves and took crosses really well. No chace with any of the goals - just poor defending to stand off of them. We also got Jaidi back on the bench and think Jos is close now so we'll have almost all barr Seabourne back. Last but not least on tonights match squad is a big mention for Ben Reeves who I thought was absolutely brilliant. Seen him a couple of times and been impressed, but his ability to pick out a pass tonight in the short time he was on the field made him man of the match for me. Big future hopeully. On another night we could have won - fair play to Millwall they set up quite well to soak us up and got a deserved lead as we just didn't get going. Then they soaked us up and to be fair they were good on the break. The officials didn't help tonight either as I'm pretty sure Reeves goal was onside which would have given us a 3-1 lead and that their last goal came from a freekick where the ball was moving. All in all there are enough positives to take from tonight to regroup tomorrow and get a good couple of days training before turning around this bad run of form on Saturday. Lets stick one up Charlie Austin for once and get a confidence boosting win to take us in to what is a massive game next Tuesday. Be positive Saints fans - our team needs us to drum up the noise to spur them on to better performances in the coming weeks and months. In Nigel we trust and in Saints we believe. COYR
http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/123115-When-will-this-bad-luck-end exactly what Iv been trying to say in this thread.. we havnt lost all these games due to be diabolical, weve lost to stupid errors by either us or officials! Once we get a break of luck I think were soon be back to our usual selves. Birmingham at the weekend was a prime example, a team top of the form table, who didnt look any better than us at all!
