There's plenty to be negative about. And I know it's corny, but let's have a list of things I think are positive: In our last ten games we have: (1) conceded just nine goals (2) picked up ten points - more than each of Fulham, Cardiff, West Ham, West Brom, Swansea, Hull and Villa (3) moved up one space in the table (4) have getting on for a full squad and those coming back from injury (Tettey and Pilkington) have looked progressively sharper) (5) Bassong is getting back to his best form (according to Bassong, but equally I'd agree) http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/...ing_his_norwich_city_captaincy_role_1_3284932 (6) Ruddy's form has also picked up AND we have a free game on Saturday - no pressure, everyone expects us to lose and Man City are struggling for their earlier form. Any more to add?
Carroll is suspended so removing a major threat when we play them. We have a good number of excellent younger players who will continue to improve year on year - the Bennets/Howson/Redmond/Murphy's etc etc even the likes of Pilks/Snod/Hooper and RvW should have their best years in front rather than behind them. We have a top calss academy which ap[pears to be churning out a number of good prospects - even the lads not quite good enough for the PL should bring in sufficient transfer revenue to make the academy self funding. We are solvent and will have money to spend on the squad regardless of our league position in May We have a pretty decent squad with no individuals who are completely indispensible (Ruddy may be the exception here). A number of our relegation rivals have key players without whom they struggle badly.
Well done Rob, I freely admit your thread has cheered me up and I was unaware that we had actually risen in the last 10 games. I think I have felt so down after the defeat at Cardiff that I had lost the wider picture. Other positives?........well the mess at Swansea will do us no harm either and Fulham look in real trouble. West Ham - no Carroll no good.
This is a disease free thread. I am asking nicely for your particular strain of Scumitis to be removed. Don't make me have to reach for the antibiotics, now
Fans really do need to see the wider picture more often! Everything is so reactionary these days so we're either doing great or already relegated depending on the most recent results. We may be having a hard time of it but so are several other teams around us !
I don't think you have grasped the basic concept of this forum but don't worry I Will leave you girls alone!
If City replicate last season's fixtures, they will get 18 points and safe before the Fulham game. Now that's positive!
Didn't believe you (no offence bor), so I quickly checked and I make it 15 points and a goal difference of +5. EDIT - apologies, it's 15 points before the Fulham game. I see what you meant now. FURTHER EDIT - in fact, I make it 21 points in total, and an overall goal difference of -4.
We continue to fill our ground each other week. I also didn't realise the 10 game points haul was better than many. 10 games of course is a very legitimate period of games giving a very good like for like comparison to the other teams! Bah!
Yobo is yet to start his first game to tighten up our defence Jonas can now get a run in the team to put some steel in our midfield Midfield of Snoddy Fer Tettey Jonas yet to be named Elliot Bennett must be getting near a return
The only reason I chose ten games is because these are the games managed by Hughton where I personally felt he should have been sacked (I.e. immediately after the Liverpool match). I appreciate that many people would disagree with that moment, either earlier or not at all, but I thought that was the most appropriate time to sack him, so the games since then have significance to me. I'm not sure whether it counts as positive, but we could argue we've been unlucky, or that we are doing something right: http://talksport.com/football/revea...s-clubs-denied-woodwork-most-14020578690?p=11 We've hit the woodwork more times than any other team in the bottom half, and hitting the woodwork appears to be, broadly, inversely proportionate to position in the table. Presumably because it suggests attacking play (!) and a high number of shots.
Seems to be as you guys suggested - nothing fancy, just reliable, pretty solid and consistent (over 2 games). Looks okay but I would still rather have Pilkington out on the left, and perhaps use Jonas in another role (but I can't think where)
