Did we seriously expect FIFA to make any decisions in our favour after we found them out for what they are? Why is Prince William appealing to their better nature when he more than most is aware they have no better nature? Steph Pratter isn't a fan of the English now is he and I wonder why that would be...

Slightly overtaken by events as I hear they are compromising and allowing a poppy on the black armband. But, it really is a lot of fuss about something slightly trivial isn't it. How anyone can put a poppy in the category of a political symbol is beyond the comprehension of most. As for FIFA or any of these governing bodies around today, well who has anything good to say about any of them. They seem to be a complete law unto themselves.

Well sensible, they had little choice in the end as David Cameron had stated that if any of the players decided to wear a poppy they would receive his backing so in the end they took the easy option rather than starting WWIII on the footy field...as it were lol

Well they still had a choice and could have stuck with their original no. But I think somebody pointed out to the man that everyone already thinks he is a prick and there was no need to talk a load of balls as well to complete the set. All this is in the name of somebody somewhere in the universe being offended. The world has gone bloody mad in my opinion and over PCness has taken over. There are many acts and things that happen that I find offensive but the wearing of something is not one of them. Seeing a FIFA president riding around in a posh car and sitting at a top table at a banquette when there are millions of kids on the planet who could not afford a pair of shoes let alone sports ones is offensive for one.

Of course Spain was a neutral Country during WW2..........so it wouldn't have involved them.

Hello Joe, I'm fine now the wife is not so stressed! She has been studying for her headship exams for year or so now and today she done her last one, an interview with 2 head teachers and an ex head! An hour and a half of questions fired at her. She is so relaxed, she is almost horizontal. How is the family?

Can't think of any reason that Blatter wouldn't like us English <whistle>, if it were me I would have said its poppies or we dont play as was said on another site there would have been nothing he could do if they'd worn them on headbands or wristbands .... think Fifa should be disbanded personally and as for Joe .... are you saying my friend would cheat ???????

To be fair to FIFA, which I'd normally be very loath to do, we wouldn't have been so keen if it was the Iranian team wanting to carry some outlandish slogan would we?

And so a rule is a rule.

There was a list of the countries who wear the Poppy circulating yesterday: namely ourselves, Canada, South Africa, Australia & New Zealand. Clearly our traditional brothers-in-arms but hardly the United Nations.

I'm very cynical about politicians getting involved in such matters. Along with "hard working families", conveying an impression of unlimited support for the Armed Forces is now a must-have item for an up & coming MP. Doesn't always show through when it comes to setting the MOD budget does it?

I could not care less if any team from any country turned out in ballet tights. The Iranian team could wear what they like also as unlike a lot of people it would seem I'm not so easily offended.

I agree with you about notdistant Mrs lalala. Calm down dear. You will burst a blood vessel with your cynicism soon.

    Was I top?

Referee's decision is final so they should just shut up and accept what they are given. I do and look where I am.

At least it isn't in mediocraty of mid table and nobody else is trying to beat you. Too much pressure being at the other end with standards to maintain. But the season is still young.............................
