I used that phrase, Tooting, and it's not aimed at anyone on the board but at certain Remainians for not accepting the referendum vote. The Lammy's of this world who want to act counter to democracy. The deluded who are signing the petition for another referendum - it's not going to happen, and most of those signing probably weren't entitled to vote in the referendum anyway. The Liberals (there are still one or two around) who want to spurn the will of the people in Parliament. The Wolfy Smith's who want to declare independence for London. They just need to accept the democratic decision and move on...

If they want to complain about what happens post Brexit, that of course is their privilege - but as I said to Strolls, two days after the referendum is too early to see how things pan out. We need a strong leader now, and once appointed, they need to sit down with Merkel and hammer out an agreement that everyone can live with

Should it be the Daniel Hannan model of free movement of labour, single market access and continued EU payments, but outside of the EU. Would you vote for it? Would anyone else who voted leave on here?

I'd like to see May as the next leader, with Gove as Foreign Secretary and possibly Boris as Home Secretary.
May was in a similar position to Corbyn imo. Both of them have always been Euro-sceptic, but were torn between this and party commitment.

By the way......where the **** is Osborne? Gone into hiding?

Osborne is totally dead mate, the biggest loser.

If Johnson has to have a role I'd like it to be Health. Let him prove he can manage something complicated that can't be done with soundbites and quotes in Latin. But he'd likely just get a competent deputy in place to do the actual work for him like he did as mayor.

Still waiting for someone to actually declare that they want to be the next PM....

I strongly doubt there will be another referendum, unless we were offered some sort of "associate" position within the EU with restricted freedom of movement. Can't see that happening.

We're going out. It looks quite possible that at the emergency EU meetings early next week, UK Euro MP's will have their rights stripped from them.

The Brexit vote was predicated on control, including control over immigration. The Hannan model would not satisfy that, and I doubt the next prime minister, whoever he or she is, would adopt this model. The Australian points system was talked about widely - I'd say there is an obligation on government now to bring immigration numbers, EU and non-EU, down to the tens of thousands originally promised in the Tory manifesto

There was a typically shires Tory comparison made re Osborne. That he's behaved like a gambler at table, doubling his stake each time he lost...and ultimately he gambled all he had left, the family farm...and lost it

I can't see there's a future for him in politics, he's a laughing stock...and unlike Neil Kinnock, he can't go off and make a fortune of the EU gravy train

No chance of that Beth. If the Remain just win then heads will roll, In fact they will anyway. This vote will change us forever whatever the result. Cameron and Corbyn are dead men walking. Boris will become leader at some point. Gove will be promoted. Osborne will be pushed out. Labour party will also change it's team around. Expect other Euro countries to ask for referendums. Sadly this is just the start of it all.

As i said expect Chukka to enter the race once Corbyn is toast.
On a sadder note it will be a shame when Corbyn goes. I don't agree with a lot of what he says but respect him. Our country needs people like him to keep people like Cameron in check.

I agree people voted to leave pretty much on immigration. I was surprised when I saw the Hannan interview.

I've just read that the referendum petition has now reached 3m votes. A lot of which are from abroad and some of which are total bollox. Vatican City for example has a population of circa 460, votes cast: 40,112!!! When will people give up and accept that the democratic process has been completed?

I think 3m is gross not net!

Not at first sight, because free movement has been such a fundamental principle of the EU. The question is whether the EU could be forced to think again, particularly bearing in mind there are 5 countries waiting for accession. If other EU members started making strong noises for a Brexit in their own countries, then the EU greysuits might be compelled to rethink their purist principles. In that case, it might be possible for the UK to buy access to the single market - and bear in mind also that German industry is desperate that tariffs are not imposed on their goods exported to the UK.

We may be moving into a new EU world where anything is possible, but it's very, very early days...

I like Corbyn too, and agree with a lot of his views. However, he doesn't look a good leader of the Labour Party

I will never vote for a party that contains Cameron (obviously he's going!) and Osborne.

Cameron has lied through his teeth on Europe and Osborne has threatened us with virtual torture if we vote to leave. A pair of stuck up scum-bags.

Look, when I heard the result my first reaction was ****............it's happened!!
I am apprehensive about the future, especially the next couple of years which I'm sure will be quite turbulent. However, I voted on a principle that I've always believed in, that of self governance (no point re-hashing that argument now) and always stated that money wasn't my first concern when it came to this vote. I believe that sometimes one has to vote for or support a cause out of principle. I also believe that we, as a Country will ultimately be stronger and better off outside the EU.

I respect your views and share some of your worries. I do feel though that we need to let the dust settle before we can expect to see where this leaves us all.

Sorry if things have become a little personal. As I say, I have the utmost respect for your views and we may not be as different as you might think.

Corbyn is an honest and decent man, he was honest enough to stand up in an referendum in which immigration was the key issue, and back his long held beliefs of immigration and open borders (ie letting in all the people in Calais in to the UK)

And the people in the Welsh and northern labour heartlands voted leave in their droves.

These people will not be voting labour in the next GE with Corbyn in charge.

It is getting quite sad now. I am seeing arguments between friends on Facebook. At the end of the day tensions are high but people need to get a grip.

This is how i see things.
We are out now and need to get on with it (however i expect marches/demos) and the usual unrest against the police at these demo's.
We will get a good deal with Europe because it works both ways
EU citizens working and living here will stay because it works both ways
Immigration won't stop, it will still happen.
We get our old passports back (a plus for me. It's like the QPR kit/badge) with easy movement through Europe. This will be different to say a US citizen.
Times will be hard for a bit but we will pull through.
Article 50 won't be happening soon so expect a Brexit between 3-5 years
Finally, never let David Beckham support something because he cost us the World cup and the EU.

Sorry, finally finally, i wish that Kranky Nichola sturgeon would shut up. She has her own agenda and leading Scotland into something that will hurt them. If they leave UK and then join EU (which won't happen) what happens if the EU breaks up? They would be fooked.

I've always felt this whole sorry affair was about regime change within the Conservatives. Well, that's going to happen. At some point soon, the 150,000 members of the Conservative party will choose the next PM, who, in turn, will select their ministerial team. That's how our political system operates.

I still expect Theresa May to be elected as the "unity" candidate to seamlessly restitch the Conservatives back into behaving and looking as one unit. Until the next time...

Labour has a lot of work to do to become an effective opposition. Buying one or two newspapers wouldn't hurt.

My hope is that people will take more interest in political affairs in future. As Pericles is supposed to have once said...

I think we should hold of all the doom and gloom until there's a reason to worry.. It's been twp days since the vote and nothing has happened yet. All the predictions are just predictions, why not wait till things become known before we worry? Be happy people.

It's galling being told to suck it up and accept the democratic decision of the people. However when the campaign was largely won through a cocktail of stupidity, ignorance, xenophobia and a deliberately deceitful campaign from Farage and co I cannot accept the validity of the decision, it is a corruption of democracy and not true democracy in action. I will caveat that by saying I have no issue with Leave voters who genuinely made an attempt to consider the debate and still decided out was best, such as the members of this board. But how anyone can say that 51.9% of 72% voter turn out is genuinely the voice of the nation is to me wrong particularly as there is a huge number of them who either bought the lies or didn't have a clue what they were voting for. This decision should never have been given to the public in the first place. And what of the people who didn't vote, surely that implies they were happy with the Status Quo? I wasn't going to post on this thread as there are greater minds than mine already making for a well reasoned debate but this is the most passion I've felt for a political issue in all my 36 years.
