Diane who?

Yes, the current conflict in Gaza is the result of the atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7, and Israel is perfectly entitled to seek to eliminate the terrorists responsible, but its response is rightly considered by the vast majority of nations (UK and US excepted) to be excessive and unacceptable. I would hesitate to call it genocide, but at the very least the actions of Israel in Gaza are war crimes in terms of collective punishment as set out in the Geneva Conventions.

As I said, if we and the US had been doing more to put an end to these excesses, the escalation by the Houthis may well have not taken place.

The Houthis are upstarts always looking for an excuse. Our bombs of peace will continue to heal the world.

War crimes will be hard to prove imo, due to the fact that Hamas 1. ran its active terrorist organisation in tunnels under the civilian population and 2. sited its missile sites in civilian areas like hospitals and schools. Israel did not target civilian areas per se.
The main reason why civilian areas and military targets are so close to each other is due to the population density in Gaza which has been forced by an artificial state called Israel progressively, and illegally, taking more and more land for itself and herding the original inhabitants into an overpopulated open area prison.

Yeah, we can always find money to go to war.

Perhaps if we'd been doing more to rein in Israel's excesses in Gaza (genocide according to South Africa) this intervention wouldn't have been necessary.

South Africa <laugh><laugh><laugh>
Look up their views on world issues.
Although, come to think of it, they probably match yours. <doh>

It's really irrelevant who brought the genocide case, let's see what the ICJ concludes.

I have no knowledge of, or interest in, what South Africa's views are on other world issues, but as a nation that has suffered under occupation, oppression and apartheid from outside actors, I'd say it has a unique perspective on this issue.

Why didn't you address my main point?

Minor in the grand scheme of things but South Africa dropping a teenage cricket captain for being jewish is… odd.

No, that's the excuse. Hamas uses its civilians as a shield. It has no care for their wellbeing. By carrying out the sub-human acts on Israeli women and children on October 7th, filming it and glorying in it, the militants have shone a light on themselves. They're psychopathic in nature. There is no compromise with these savages. For Israel, it's kill them or they'll kill you. There is no diplomatic solution because Hamas wants only the destruction of Israel and its people.

The Houthis have been emboldened by the weakness of Biden, retreating from Afghanistan without even consulting US allies, and then paying Iran $6 billion so it can buy armaments to supply terrorists.

The shipping route through Suez and the Red Sea has to be kept open. Many trading nations are affected, and they too must participate in removing the threat from Yemen.
