Surely the Times, Sunday Times and Channel 4 should have advised these women to go to the police much earlier?
They haven't been to the police. The police have said they've had no reports of any accusations of rape against Brand.

Apparently there has been one allegation of sexual assault to the police, but it’s not one of the 4 ladies who have spoken to the media. They haven't been to the police. The police have said they've had no reports of any accusations of rape against Brand.
Boy 999s, what world do you live in.I find it a bit odd that a girl who has been raped would see the media as her first port of call rather than the police.
So from your post you really don’t believe in the concept of “innocent until proven guilty” ?
And before the usual suspects come in, I don’t know either way, just like I never knew if Benjamin Mendy was guilty….or Kevin Spacey….or Mo Rammy.
She’s not 16 now, and she wasn’t in 2020 when she went to Brand’s agency. I am much more inclined to believe her and the other women than I am Brand, but why on Earth haven’t they been to the police yet? Why haven’t the media people who found her advised her to go to the police? Is the kind of justice she is after simply his public humiliation in the media, rather than preventing him potentially continuing this (alleged) behaviour as a free man?Boy 999s, what world do you live in.
An area controlled by the Met police perhaps....
What's the point going to the Met police if you are a woman who has been assaulted or a blackman or blackwoman who have been stopped in their own car abd searched or a black young girl who has been accused of having drugs in school.
She went to Brands agency...and immediately threatened with an injunction by his lawyers....a 16 year old girl, who has been humiliated by a celebrity...who has deceived her parents.
No she didn't go to the media...the media found her...and gave her the strength to become ( semi) public
He is currently innocent of any criminal charge...until a jury finds him guilty.
That doesn't mean I want him around my daughters...or any of our female relatives.
Not sure if you have daughters Stainsey but would you let him have a drink with a close young female relative of yours. No you wouldn't either
For your information from the internet
For victims, reporting rape is effectively a lottery and the odds are rarely in your favour. In the year to December 2021, there were 67,125 rape offences recorded – an all-time high. Yet the number of completed rape prosecutions plummeted from 5,190 in 2016-17 to just 2,409 in 2020-21. The numbers of convictions almost halved (2,689 in 2016/17 compared to 1,409 in 2020/21). Only 5% of rapes that were given an outcome by the police in the year ending December 2021 resulted in a charge.
It is thought that the number of rapes reported to the police are a fraction of those that happen because.
Too drunk or drugged to remember.
Felt they said No too late and so it was their fault
Too embarrassed to report
Luckily nothing happened ( no pregnancy) so "got away with it"
Won't be a conviction as they were married/ in a relationship.
Had sex with them before...so it must have been consented
Too scared of violence to report it.
And endless other reasons.
I have a friend, who is currently going through the process of try to get a rape to court. A tough woman who has had a tough life, but this processes has brought her to her knees emotionally. What would it do to a 16 year old girl
Why hasn't the then 16 year old gone to the police Stan? She’s not 16 now, and she wasn’t in 2020 when she went to Brand’s agency. I am much more inclined to believe her and the other women than I am Brand, but why on Earth haven’t they been to the police yet? I totally understand why she and others have zero trust in the police as first port of call. But this has moved in a lot since then.
So she thinks this route is an acceptable alternative? Her identity will become public sooner or later, possibly already is in shady bits of the web, and his rather odd and deluded fans will never give her a moments peace. At best.Maybe she doesn’t want the hassle and distress and media coverage of a trial in a justice system with a backlog going back years due to chronic underfunding.
You’re avoiding the point if my original post Beth. But I think you know that.
Whether I would let my daughter near him is a bizarre and lame point, and nothing to do with his guilt or not.
Have you ever been assaulted sexually, Stainsy.Your letting you emotions run away with you mate
Have you ever been assaulted sexually, Stainsy.
I have on the tube...when younger obviously. An unpleasant man put his hand up my skirt. He got an elbow in the ribs and "don't you f***do that"... but I got off the tube and burst into tears.
No I didn't report it.
No I didn't tell my parents or boyfriend ( I was about 20) or anyone.
My daughter was drugged in a club...but a bouncer got her home in a cab.
As said above I have a friend who was raped in her own home, by a ex boyfriend, because she owed it to him. And is trying to get it in to the courts. He says it was consensual.
Yes I do feel emotional about it.
But Brand is definitely innocent until proven guilty...
But neither me nor my daughters will be drinking with him in the future
2 of the 4 original cases are in USA...both those are rape allegations I believeApparently there has been one allegation of sexual assault to the police, but it’s not one of the 4 ladies who have spoken to the media.
I’ll be honest my personal opinion of Brand and his character is not positive. He has that creepy Andrew Tate vibe. I can easily believe that he has abused women for decades, though of course I don’t know anything. But just because I have this opinion doesn’t make it true, this has to be dealt with through the justice system, or dropped.
Again, and with all due respect, your emotions are high.
I’ll leave it there before I upset you. Have a good night

It’s a ****show and our system for dealing with rape/sexual assault is hopelessly broken. I can imagine that ‘if the law won’t help me I’ll get him through the media’ might be tempting at first glance but I’m really scared for all parties, especially the (alleged) victims unless they take the next step and engage with the law.

Good shout. As usual I don’t have any useful input or advice, I think the issues with the police, let alone with the level of sexual abuse we seem to have, are terrifying. I have a 23 year old daughter who lives a couple of miles from where Sarah Everard was abducted. Some things I just don’t think about.Maybe. I can’t put myself in her position to know what I’d do. I know from female friends that the Sarah Everard case has seriously changed young women’s views of the police, rightly or wrongly.
