Samantha Pressdee
@SammiePressdee

In 2006 I refused to have sex with Russell Brand. I was in his London flat. There was a lot of heavy petting and we were both down to our pants. He didn’t pressure me when I said no. He wasn’t angry or abusive. Everything that happened was consensual. I stayed the night in his flat and felt safe. I have had countless non sexual and respectful encounters with him since. I only heard about the so called ‘open secret’ when a comic mentioned it onstage at this years Edinburgh Fringe Festival. I have been in the comedy industry for almost 10 years and worked as an actress, dancer and model before that. I had a friend who was invited over to his flat around 2014/ 2015. She also refused sex. She didn’t have a problem with him. So based on my own experience (and I am a sexual assault survivor myself -UNRELATED) I find these rumours hard to believe. The entertainment industry is a cesspit of spiteful, manipulative, envious and opportunistic people. These women apparently only came forward after being approached by journalists. I went straight to the police after my own UNRELATED sexual assault. Admittedly that got me nowhere and based on that experience, I have not bothered to press ahead legally with other UNRELATED sexual assaults, but I didn’t go to the press either… Innocent until proven guilty.

The thing about sex predators is that they choose the weakest and lowest in position as their prey. Like children still at school. Like newby runners on set. Like young, star struck women from the audience. They don't generally go for others of a similar or higher status. So this narrative from Pressdee is meaningless imo

But there doesn’t seem much that he’s done that can be proven, one way or the other.

Except the american girl going to the Rape Crisis centre in USA and report, photo and DNA samples being taken

And the records of Alice being picked up by BBC car and the phone records

And the phone records of Brand apologising in the last case and the evidence of the screams coming from the flat witnessed by Brands team who were outside

Oh and the fact that Alice complaining to his agency and being "threatened" by his lawyers, and the agency now saying they had been duped.

There is quite a lot of evidence of coercive behaviour.... and at least 2 counts of actual rape

As I said..can any of this be proven. Whether you or I believe it happened or not, there doesn’t seem much that can be proven in a court of law. Of course I’m not a lawyer

Really Stainsey, really.
I think I need an apology ...now.

What you get in many cases, myself included, is a lifelong fan who has taken the rough with the smooth, and supports her team regardless girl, woman and crone for 60 years

But is football really a place for ladies ? Should they not be at home waiting for their menfolk with a warming glass of scotch and a hot dinner

A gentleman would not leave his ladies side to go to football, Stainsey. A gentleman would spend his time in awe of his "queen" pampering to her every wim....bringing her chocolates and puppy dogs to stroke.

But you are obviously not a gentleman...and I am not a lady. So I will continue to go to see the Rs and support my team in an calm and well mannered way.....and you can wait in failed expectation for your cheap scotch and lukewarm dinner

Took my ex to Port Vale at home in the league cup. We lost 3-1. She didn’t ask to go again.

Brand’s lawyers have dumped him as of last week, saying that he lied to them in 2020 when the woman who was 16 at the time of the alleged activities alerted Brand’s representatives.

I agree that trial by media is unfair and sordid. The police are now investigating, apparently. Would be good if the media shut up and let them get on with it.

I agree that trial by media is unfair....but only the media (Times, S Times and Dispatches) took the time to research and establish the facts that they could and bring it in to the public sight. I saw the interview with the journalist who did most of the work , she has been working on it for over 6 years

Without the media, he would still be out there. That is true of several other cases too...
Williams-Thomas was the leading investigator on the ITV Exposure documentary, The Other Side of Jimmy Savile.
I believe the BBC broke the magdalene Launderies stories
And of course the Times broke the Thalidomide story

I agree ....now the media have brought the case to the front, and so helped other women come forward and if there is a criminal case to answer (as todays news implies there is in this country, half the initial cases were carried out in USA) they should back away

If he's arrested, the case becomes sub judice and they'll have to shut up. Until then, there's a lot of public interest in this, so the media will feed it.

So from your post you really don’t believe in the concept of “innocent until proven guilty” ?
And before the usual suspects come in, I don’t know either way, just like I never knew if Benjamin Mendy was guilty….or Kevin Spacey….or Mo Rammy.

I find it a bit odd that a girl who has been raped would see the media as her first port of call rather than the police.

Surely the Times, Sunday Times and Channel 4 should have advised these women to go to the police much earlier? They have just let Brand potentially continue his alleged behaviour for another six years.

Thalidomide and the Magdalene laundries were great journalism a long time ago. They were also major conspiracies involving huge institutions. This is a ‘my word against theirs’ accusation of sexual abuse. Hugely important but in terms of journalistic skill and endeavour it’s hardly Watergate. My personal opinion of Brand is probably very similar to yours, but so far this ‘expose’ has been more about garnering clicks and views than stopping wrong.

In my opinion.
