A joke which the Tories have milked ever since while debt under them has rocketed and public services have declined hugely. Where has the money gone? Chalk up another win for the Tories’ sparkling management of the economy.

A joke? The finances were in an appalling mess in 2008. The coalition fought to bring matters under control. Now you want Starmer, who wanted Corbyn and Abbott heading a Labour government

They either didn’t try very hard or made a complete hash of it then as the debt has rocketed and literally nothing has improved. Brown was widely praised for minimising the damage from the global crash.

Starmer isn’t perfect by any means and nobody has argued he is. Compared to the absolute shower that we have now it’s no contest. The saddest thing is I think you know that but are happy to see the country burn for the precious intangible notion of Brexit.

My own opinion - I was never convinced Boris would be a good pm because of his lack of attention to detail. He needed an organised disciplinarian around him, and lost that when he left his wife, Marina. Truss was an idiot - but, so far, I like what I see of Sunak and his priorities, and I'm a big fan of Braverman.

If Starmer does get in, if he does nothing else, he can oversee a major overhaul the NHS needs. Bet I'm not sure he's a strong enough character to do that.

Yes I know you’re a big fan of Braverman. The less said about that the better.

Has Sunak achieved anything apart from accepting the job as patsy when Chancellor, getting elected by no one to become Prime Minister when even the almost dead Tory members didn’t even want him or spaffing £11bn away due to his own incompetence?

The bloke is worth hundreds of millions. It’s pretty obvious why he’s doing the job.

Sunak has brought prudence to fiscal matters and avoided a recession, brought in the Windsor framework, improved relations with EU, Illegal Migration Bill, taking steps to prevent a Stop Oil go slow, and blocking Scottish gender reforms and seeing off Sturgeon.

Neither Sunak nor Starmer need the money, or the hassle of being in politics. It has more to do with achievement than cash.

I don't think he can take any credit for seeing off Sturgeon, she's managed that quite well all by herself and is dragging the SNP down with her

A 35-year-old man was arrested in Groningen, Netherlands, on Sunday after he was caught drink-driving and holding a fraudulent licence naming him as Boris Johnson.

Officers were called to investigate an accident near the Emma Bridge in the northern city shortly after midnight.

They found an abandoned car that had crashed into a pole. Police later received information that the driver was standing on the bridge.

“The person could not identify himself and refused to undertake a breathalyser test,” said police spokesman Thijs Damstra.

Upon searching the man's car, police discovered a counterfeit Ukrainian driver's licence bearing the name “Boris Johnson”, complete with a photograph of the former British prime minister and his birth date.

The fraudulent document was “issued” in 2019 and listed as valid until the year 3000.

“Unfortunately for this person, we did not fall for his forgery,” the Groningen police said on their Instagram account

True, but the gender recognition conflict between SNP and UK govt is said to have been a factor in her demise. Starmer would have supported it in all likelihood

I don't think there's many fans of the bill up here either - certainly no one that I know supports it. My wife deals with trans patients and even they don't agree with it.

Yousaf is thinking of going to the courts anyway, even though he was against the bill, as he feels it's devolved matter, but most analysts think it's a no-win case for him.

They're also putting the brakes on pushing for IndyRef2, realising the damage that Sturgeon, Murrel and others have done. Time to flush out the old guard and bring in new blood....Labour reckon they could win as many as 20 seats off the SNP, and the Tories may even knick a couple too. She can rest easy in her campervan knowing what a disaster she's left in her wake....hopefully whoever is in charge concentrates on getting the country running properly and not spending all their energy on Independance for a change.

While not as important as gender-neutral toilets this doesn’t sound all that great. Tiny, tiny bit fascisty if you ask me, which you didn’t.

Let me think now, who was it that left a note saying they'd frittered the money and there was none left? Ah, yes. Labour. No wonder they've been out of office for 12 years. Starmer has no character or principles. He'll make a terrible pm

Starmer at PMQs today when Sunak said something about Labour leaving no money.....

'Debt doubled since 2010, growth down, tax up, the economy crashed. They’re going to need a bigger note'.
