Abbott is useless but May's grasp of figures isn't great either. All those years promising to get net immigration below 100k.

May is not perfect, and that's shown when she relied on Nick Timothy before her manifesto. She needs to choose her advisors more carefully.

But Abbott would introduce extreme new lows of inadequacy to ministerial appointment.

She has to speak because if Corbyn wins, she will be our Home Secretary.

God help us...

Why? She's muddle-headed, can't deal with figures and has no talent, so I think it must be because she and Jeremy were once bed buddies

She would have to be pretty awful to do worse than May.

Abbot isn't stupid. She's very smart. She's also very lazy, and doesn't do her homework. Not good enough.

You do know about Boris Johnson, don't you? :emoticon-0105-wink: It's a very low bar...

Bit higher since Irritable Bowel Smith flounced out, a man so stupid he took the longest time on record to get to the rank of Captain in the Scots Guards. May is thought to be going to bring him and Michael 'Pig Ugly' Gove back into the government after the election.

Many were thinking Johnson would drop a major clanger or two after being appointed Foreign Secretary. They've been disappointed.

I liked the Italian foreign minister's response to Boris' request for the U.K. to stay in the Single Market while not having free movement 'otherwise you'll sell less Prosecco', which was 'ok we'll sell less Prosecco to one country, you'll sell less fish'n'chips to 27 countries'.

If you are happy with Johnson as the face of this country to all others Goldie I would be genuinely surprised. Surely there's at least one person of you broad political persuasion you would prefer?

Set your TV record devices, Aled 'walking in the air' Jones will be bringing us Songs of Praise from Manchester, where he will be examining the role of faith in the response to the bombing. Seriously. Wonder if he will touch on the role of faith in causing the bombing?

Meanwhile UKIP calls for the return of the death penalty for suicide bombers. Seriously.

Abbott supported the IRA when they were active and killing innocent civilians. Theresa May will have had to have supported ISIS to be worse

May's cuts to policing and the intelligence failures on her watch allowed the Manchester bomber to kill innocent civilians.

I'm going to offer some support for Stroller here (sorry, Col).

I was at Winchester railway station at 5:20AM yesterday morning to be confronted by two Polly Soffissers resplendent in their black paramilitary uniforms, baseball caps and each carrying a semi-automatic of some description. Not what you'd expect at a time like that in rural Hampshire.

Anyway, got chatting to them, as you do. Turns out they'd been there all night and were about to knock off. As far as they were aware there were no plans for a day shift to take over, but they'd been informed they were to resume that evening.

Given the modus operandi of your typical Islamic suicide bomber, isn't it a requirement that you have a crowd within which to stand and detonate yourself?

If I've got this right, and leaving aside the prospect that someone could plant a device overnight, wouldn't it be more helpful to see Polly during the daylight hours?

The two officers agreed with me, but were only following orders.

Of course, I pointed out, there's an election on.

"You got it!" replied Polly.

They're criticised if they don't seem to do enough and they're criticised when they appear to go over the top.

Personally, I'd be happy to have a couple of highly trained armed police officers or a couple of Paras nearby whenever I travel.

I'd like to see our Bobbies back on the beat and not speeding by in 'squad cars' to some central HQ because the local station has shut down, Col. Maybe if we have a return to proper community policing we might be able to deter all manner of crime before it's committed. The deployment of the paramilitary police to patrol an empty platform in the dead of night is a pretty pathetic measure in my humble opinion.

In my humble opinion you an I aren't privy to whatever intelligence may have lead to that decision. It's far too easy to complain and moan about people who are there to protect you.
I completely agree about the number of bobbies and the cutting of numbers has been a real mistake imo.

Presumably all the Intelligence successes, I think they have foiled around 13 similar types of attacks in the last year alone, are a plus on her watch then?
Corbyn, McDonnell and Abbott will always take the side of our enemies and that's why I can't vote for a party containing such people.
