I would have thought that, on £80k a week, I wouldn't need ANYTHING MORE. You know, that's like an unlimited amount of money. You COULDN'T possibly run out.

But Nasri... god man, what's going through his head with contracts.

The only way a footballer could POSSIBLY run out of cash would be if they ran out of money at like 45 because they've spent a **** load their whole life and just retired and have no cash.

But the simple solution is to become a manager, a coach, FFS a scout...

Why does Nasri feel the need to leave? Sure he'd get maybe £20k a week more at United, but both sets of fans would think him to be a ****.

There's definitely something going on behind the scenes... but what?

Money isn't really an issue. The issue is he's probably fed up of playing alongside average crap and not winning anything. He doesn't want to be the new Fabregas struggling to carry a load of bollocks to 4th place.

Also just how stupid are the club originally agreeing a paltry 3 year deal and then not hammering down a new deal after his first season?

I think they're on 50% tax so a £50,000 a week deal is really £25,000. Still ridiculous amounts of money though.

I think Nasri is an ambitious guy and wants to win things, what player wouldn't (OK maybe Denilson). He obviously thinks that he won't win anything staying at Arsenal sans Cesc, IAH i can't blame him, And if he gets more money thats a bonus. Maybe its our ridiculous wage structure that is at fault.

Footballers suffer from the same love of money, fame, power as the rest of us.

The hunger for more never dies. If you land a contract at 50k per week from your first big move, it won't be long befor eyou are rubbing shoulders with with those on 70-100k per week, and all footballers have an ego which makes them think they are worth more than the others.

Now, some people have different motivations for money - a lot of the African players for example do a lot of good for their entire village with teh money they earn, so for them getting a bigger wage is as much about bilding more schools/medical centres than the next big flash car.

It is unrealistic to expect footballers to not want to maximise their earnings. What I have an issue with is players saying money has nothing to do with it. I truly believe that even if Arsenal had money a trophy or two in teh last couple of years the same players wanting out would want to go; Fabregas wants to go home (he is prepared to accept a wage cut at Barca), and Nasri for momney, both would have said they'd achieved what they wanted and needed a new challenge. The wanting to win trophies line is just an excuse.

The main problem at Arsenal is the wage structure.

Wenger believes (wrongly IMHO) that paying all senior players except Cesc roughly the same salary, whereas at other clubs there is a wide disparity based on perfromance and seniority.

To some extent it depends on what type of players you have but Wenger has obviously misjudged this with players like Clichy and Nasri. Also in the case of such as Denilson, Eboue, Diaby and Squillaciit will be difficult to sell them on because of their relatively high salary (nobody wants to take a pay cut).

I am not advocating increasing the wage bill merely restoring a pecking order with the best players receiving more than the mediocre. To do this it will be necessary to sell some of the fringe players mentioned.

If the wage structure is not adjusted this close season we will continue to lose our best players forever more.

I thought initially that Nasri was being a mercenary about the whole situation but i think a certain percentage of his mindset is focused on winning something, people remember the winners they dont remember who came close and you cnt blame the fella for that. Nasri still has the best footballing years ahead of him at the moment and he wants to win on the big stage.

    Arsenal's Pay Structure is crazy.

The cumulative effect is that you are one of the highest payers in the World.

Individually you fail to meet the expectations of the World's best/most ambitious/greedy Players, because you pay outrageous amounts to entice youngsters away from their Clubs.
