There have been a lot of posts on here about a number of our players who, under Bruce, "weren't good enough" but since O'Neill took over they have looked every bit a part of the scene for the club.

People like Cattermole & Richardson have both come on massively since O'Neill took over - but the wonder now is how good might some of our players be?

With a boss like Martin o'Neill in charge can players like Elmohammady be given their chance and actually look like a good player - he is undoubtedly quick and can cross a ball - just seems to only run in a straight line - maybe not his fault - maybe he wasn't coached correctly??

Only time will tell if MoN's management can bring players on and make them into something but think about the ones so far that have improved:

    Richardson
    Cattermole
Gardner (I say improved buyt at least he's getting a game!)
    Vaughan (as above)
Sessegnon (I know he was our best p[layer under Bruce but he seems quicker somehow now!!)

Maybe "the forgotten men" like Elmo can step up and do a job with a manager in charge like O'Neill...

Only if we brought in Messi, Xavi and Iniesta. Even then I would want to keep them.

edit: misread question. Read it as 'Does anyone..." And I never wanted to get rid of them, I wanted them to be played. Seemed we had some good players sitting on the bench with Bruce, and he never used them. Now we've seen them play, we have to ask... wtf Bruce?

Marcus - there was obviously a huge problem with the players and Bruce just not working with each other mate. Bruce is a decent bloke and will again be a decent manager but he has to realise the limits of his ability and stick to the likes of a Wigan or Huddersfield - and by that I mean non disrespect but the pressure cooker atmosphere of football in the NE, requires a special kind of player and manager and Bruce fell someway short of the requirement.

Having said that, there can be no doubt he could pick a decent player and the likes of Vaughan, Gardener, Sess, Gyan, Bent, Brown and Larsson are very good players imo who have been afforded the manager they deserve now in MoN. They look like players again and look like they are revelling in his management.

The biggest transformation though must be the captain. Catts looks like the player we thought we had bought 2.5 years ago and has been MotM for at least 2 of the 4 games he has played under the new boss and maybe even 3 times.

I have always liked Catts and if he can keep this form up for the remainder of the campaign, along with several of his colleagues, SAFC will be in a very, very healthy position come May imo.

    Target one - 40 points

    Target two - Top 10

    Target three - Who knows

Read the post - the sentence before the players quoted states:

I never stated (or even insinuated) that we wanted rid of them - just that he has improved those players so why not others that people have been having a go at!

Elmo seems like a likeable lad to be honest but then so is my 70 year old neighbour and he isn't a very good footballer either. I'd loan him out to the championship for the season at best and maybe have another look at him in August.

He is nowhere near good enough for the EPL at this moment in time imo.
