No don't panic I'm not expecting us to be in them! We are going up on Saturday. Just wanted to canvas opinions. I know the play offs are a brilliant spectacle and they give a lot of clubs something to play for throughout the year. Is it really fair though that a team such as West Ham or one of the Sheffield clubs who will finish well clear in 3rd place potentially lose out? You have proved over 46 games that your side is far superior to the teams finishing in 5th or 6th place but in what basically becomes a cup-tie your season long efforts are wiped out. Views?
Morning lamba Winning promotion at Wembley is the best way to up but its the worst feeling if you lose as we found out against Scunny in 09
They are a money making idea , completely unfair , if it were basketball or tennins yes as one point in the context of things is not decisive but in football a goal is very important indeed , should be 1, 2 and 3 .
or do what they do in other sports that the team in the third relegation spot in PL plays 3rd in championship for PL status and so on throughout the league added incentive for relegation fighting teams aswell plus means 3rd place are guaranteed Play off final spot
I seem to recall that was tried in the early days of the Prem (or was it just a suggestion?). The problem is that the stakes are enormous. I really do not like the play offs. It should be top 3, end of. Huddersfield's failure to get promotion last year was absurd. I think finishing 3rd must feel like relegation, but I'd rather not know from experience come Saturday!
