Well had a good session with me Virginian buddy last night and the planet has another Argyle supporter! Today were off to the local souk to buy some goodies to take home on hols with him...lucky bugger lives in a nice place looking over the Sugar Loaf mountain outside of Rio.....have a sneaky peek at some of the women too. <cheers>

P.S. in this heat will be thirsty work so have stocked the fridge for when we return<cool>
 
Can I order anyone a drink.......sensible will settle up later,thats when he gets up.........the weather around here is enough to drive you to drink.......ever since the hose ban its rained,rained rained,.........in fact I don't think it has stopped in the last 24 hours.
 
My mum sewed my pockets up when I was a teenager because I kept jiggling my small change. You are all very cruel. I'll have you know I once offered a whole load of people a drink one night after we had all finished at the AA meeting.
 
Went to my son's and watch the match tonight with hope in my heart. At last something to cheer about. Poor old Plym will be beside himself with grief. Drinks all around except plym who will probably want a piece of rope.<whistle>
 
sensible.......it's a sad day for football..........at least Man U gained their success and wealth through years of winning on the pitch.....to be eventually cheated by their american owners turning it into a big debt that the club are paying.

Man C......what have they done in the last 50 years.....not a lot.......then a big Arab suger daddy comes along and spends.spends,spends and buys success.

Do we want football to be in the hands of the mega rich businessmen....who in the end might find another toy to play with......and it all comes crashing down.

We know it will never happen to PAFC .....but if it did and we won the whole world........what does that do to 125 years of history thats gone before, years of success and years of failure.

Personally it would be a hollow victory won by a team of prima-donnas with no allegience to Argyle at all.......not my idea of a team to support.......the locals would be priced out of it........and a different type of supporter would arrive........who would disappear just as easy as they came......when our sugar daddy moved on.....thats not football.

City could still lose it.....they do drop unexpected points at times.
 
Lets examine that one then Plym. Success on the pitch equals fortune. Yes it does and they have made this on the back of or taking it off other clubs due to people with no allegiance to Manchester jumping on the bandwagon. They have bought their success from other clubs missery if you like. Players with no allegiance to Argyle assuming this sugar daddy ever appeared. And the players at Man U have this allegiance in abundance do they? No more or less than anywhere else. They are mercenaries who play for money.

How somebody else emerging with the clout and muscle to win something is bad for football is anyones guess. What would you prefer, a sterile only one or two clubs could win like in Scotland or Spain or a melee of teams with a chance. Which is more competetive and exciting? Why do you like Man u I've asked before. Answer because somebody crashed a plane and they rose again from the debris as a club. What allegiance do you have for them and the answer is none at all as you do not come from there and nor do your family. I would take Mr Sugar Daddy Bin Whatever and welcome him with open arms if he ever wanted to turn up. So would most Argyle fans or fans of any other club he came sniffing at. I was so chuffed that Man C won last night and there is a possibility that somebody else for a change might win the top spot. I couldn't really care less who wins that league normally because it has become predictably boring.
 
You cannot blame Alec Ferguson for the fanbase that call themselves United Fans......you can admire him for the quarter of a century that he has applied himself in building a team with a reasonable core of home grown players that do have an allegiance to United......as many as you will find in any other Premiership club ....and far more than City could ever muster up. Many ex-United players still have that allegiance years after finishing their careers.

The last time I saw Man U live was when I took my Father to Fulham........and my Father died in 1970.........so I do think you have overstated a tad my connections to United.......and seem to have an unhealthy approach to them and their achievements..........so you would be be happy that everything Argyle would be thrown away for Sheikh Bin Money to buy PAFC and turn it into an unrecognizable monstrousity........and you would sell your soul for that sensible......you certainly wouldn't be able to afford to go and watch them........it really wouldn't matter.....they would be on the box every other week....so it wouldn't matter.

By the way a bit of a surprise you posting before lunch........Mrs sensible doesn't change the bedding on a Tuesday morning ?
 
Surprisingly I woke up early for me and having had a cuppa in bed was up by 10am. Will need a lie in tomorrow now to make up.

I don't hate Man U particularly. I hate any league that is a one horse race and they happen to be the one horse at the moment. Full marks to Ferguson who has actually built a number of teams over the years. It isn't his fault that nobody else is successful. I do hate the sale of merchadise around the globe and in every City high street in this Country. I hate the armchair fans who jump on bandwagons.

I would indeed sell my soul for the rich Arab and by the way, I could afford a season ticket pretty much whatever they charged for it. Whether my mates could or not is another matter. Simply I want to watch my team in the top division at least once before I die however it is achieved. Man U stay where they are because of money.
 
When will Liverpool remember that it doesn't always work second time around.

Dalglish is a God on Merseyside.........the "cop" might start to see that he is only flesh and blood and maybe over the hill.

Whilst listening to the match (Liverpool v Fulham) on the car radio.....the commentator said that Liverpool needed to change something....else they would lose.......with three of their big guns rested with Saturday in mind.......their sub bench only had one recognized name,,,,Downing (not doing much either)......and included a 17 year old and two 18 year olds.

Once Liverpool would have had a reserve team that would have beaten quite a few Premier teams....not anymore.

OK a lot of fans would be going to Wembley on Saturday........but the commentator mentioned more than once the empty seats around the ground,.....the attendance was supposed to be 40000.......would that of counted season ticket holders whether they turn up or not ?

Other than the odd Cup or two, it is quite an eye opener to remember when Liverpool last won the league......1989/90.....which means they have never won the Premiership.

That is 22 years ago.....and they have generally been quoted as "one of the big four".......this year there might only be two of the "big four" at the top Arsenal and Man U.

So we might be getting a power shift with Man C, Newcastle and Spurs muscling in on the act.

Can that be the same Newcastle of only a few years back.....dancing around Home Park....as they went up and we went down.......at times..... a good memory can be a bit of a millstone around your neck.......it can remember the bad times......which of course makes the good times even sweeter.......not being relegated to the Conference can at the moment feel like sweet success.
 
Hate is too strong a word Mrs LaLa...........they are in the same group as Chelsea,Man C and Celtic and also Billingham Synthonia Recreation ( Northern League,or used to be).
 
Nice long opinion of Liverpool there plym but I was talking about leagues being a one horse race not being a good thing for interest sake. Quite what Liverpool's past record has to do with that I'm not sure. I would like to see at least half the premier league in with a shout of winning it. As there is little hope of that then I have no particular interest in the competition. I have no problem with people "admiring" another team because of their style etc. but professing anymore than a passing interest whilst supposedly supporting their local side or more to the point ignoring their local side in favour of somewhere they have no allegiance to or possibly have never set foot in is so wrong in so many ways.
