One of the reasons I didn't join this site immediately after BBC606 closed was that there had been significant & I suspect coordinated spam attacks on the BBC F1 board from what appeared to be well established members of the Formula 1 forum here. The very name of this site confirms that it started as the antithesis of BBC606 and that didn't seem to bode well for what it would be like inside.
Of course, anyone can copy somebody's user name on another site......... Having said that, if you root around in here, you will find threads form individuals boasting about spam attacks and advising how simple it is to use proxy servers & the like to avoid sanction.
You might think that F1 is relatively gentlemanly compared to the perceived hooligan image of football but there was a very nasty edge to some of it, trying to stir up racist, xenophobic and homophobic controversy around Lewis Hamilton, which of course people were unfortunately dragged into.
In fact, once inside it, not606 seems to be a relatively quiet & well run place, even on the F1 board. Sheer speculation of course, but it's plain that in the past at least there have been some very unpleasant characters around here and I wouldn't be surprised if it's disaffected ex-members of this board or perhaps their victims who are responsible for what's happened.
