After every game I looked forward to the "phone in" on Radio Norfolk. It was usually over enthusiastic callers either lambasting players, tactics, management etc or "cloud cuckoo land " callers shouting on about "Europe here we come",top five a certainty" etc. Most of it was a good listen, and well presented by a reasonable guy ,who I think was Matt Gudgin, who allowed the show to flow. Now we have a guy by the name of Rob Butler???????? I have never heard such an opinionated,a** licking.condescending nob head in my life. His opinions are not needed.Don't he know its a phone in that should allow the public to put their points across, and discuss with whoever is the "ex pro" pundit on the show. To hear Butlers comments make me and many others cringe. I am starting a "Bring back Gudgin" campaign. Any others feel the same ?????
Isn't Butler playing the role of the bad guy? I've always found Canary call stale the only entertainment being the heathens who phone in the presenters have always been boring no offence to Neil Adams and co. If there is someone who puts some of the callers in their place then fair play.
I would just like to know how he got that gig and also his Friday evening show with Paul McVeigh ? Who the **** is Rob Butler ??????
According to his "Twatter Account" Three quarters of 'Mcveigh and Butler'. Canary Call presenter. Assistant Producer for Late Kick Off. Day job is Media Manager for Look East. Says it all me thinks. Jobs for the boys.
Lol butler is a troll big time! I think the callers are the main problem on the show. Exclusively confused old men, calling from the nursing home. Where's the diversity?
I like him, even if he does sometimes lose the thread a bit. He is a real fan and doesnt stand for any of the Little old Norwich mindset . Agree that the majority of callers are deluded and confused, but thats true of most phone ins, football or not.
He tries to 'play devil's advocate' but fails miserably and then has to remind us at least twice a show that that's what he's trying (and usually failing) to do. Tries to 'stimulate debate' as he puts it, but just ends up sounding like a tw@t. He doesn't listen properly to callers and then twists the bits he does hear, for example a woman phoned in after the Wigan game and asked if all the people who'd phoned in complaining about Lambert's tactics would like to see him sacked because that's what they sounded like they wanted, he turned it into 'canary callers want Lambert sacked'. He's always banging on about how he sits in the snakepit. Claims he's fed up with hearing people moan about Morison and then proceeds to read loads of Morison bashing tweets/texts out. Claims he doesn't want to get involved in the rumours that are flying around but if a caller doesn't bring it up he'll read a tweet/text and make sure it gets mentioned at least once. Constantly has to encourage people to phone in, not something Goreham and Adams had to do. Gets quite annoyed/angry if anyone dares to text/tweet/phone and disagree with his opinion. Always sucks up to the ex-pro he has on and claims they all were his favourite player. Apart from that I think he's a pretty good presenter...
Yeah...may have gone off on one a bit there. He just does my head in. After the brilliant win at Spurs all he could go on about was the fact that he went to school with a lot of Spurs fans (does anyone care?) and that the result was probably the greatest in Norwich's history. I'd suggest that the two league cup wins, the 58/59 cup run and the win over Bayern Munich in Munich were greater results than beating a stuttering Spurs side who haven't won in eight games. And there I go again.
Thank goodness for that. I thought I was the only one who hated him. I still go to games with my Dad, and Butler drives him absolutely insane. Knows **** all about football and is an absolute imbecile. Get him off my bleedin' radio.
Isn't this typical of all phone-ins though. Alan Green used to be O.K. on 5Live but has become an idiot now and as for Savage - aaarrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhh!
Seems to me that a lot of people are moaning about the show, but STILL listening to it. Don't listen if it wind's you up that much. I listen mainly for the Lambert interview with Chris Gorham, then spend the next half hour moaning because I couldn't understand a word he said. I generally hear words like, "immense" and "brilliant" and make it up myself after that! ILD OTBC
