I think you need to change the title of this thread to "Its a new dawn, a new day, a new liiiife foorrrrr meeee and I'm Phelan Gooood"
I thought I spotted a difference in the way we pressed lat night. Previously we simply got behind the ball and marked space goalside of the player with the ball. Last night the covering player seemed to not only close the space but also tried to nick the ball from the opponent with the ball. In other words we seemed to be more aggressive with the player with the ball. I also think it was a deliberate ploy to cede possession and play deep. I think someone recognised Villa like to break fast away from home. Effectively we turned that on it's head and played like an away side.
If our 4 points in 2 games is really down to Pehlan and we keep it up for the rest of the season I think its obvious who our next head coach will be.
Why be so simplistic. Why not let Bruce handle the media, shield the staff and look after the things that appear in the limelight. Let Phelan work with the players and sort tactics on the training ground and create a brilliant partnership. Just like Franz Beckenbauer and Holger Osieck for the 1990 World Cup and probably the relationship between Phelan and SAF.
"OOGACHAKKA- OOGA-OOGA-OOGACHAKKA- OOGA-OOGA-OOGACHAKKA- OOGA-OOGA AAAAAAAaaaaAAAAAAAaaaaaAAAAA- Hooked on a Phelan- duh-Duh-duh-duuuhhh, I'm high on believing, dud-duh-duuuuhhhh, that you're in love with meeeeeee"
