For me Pardew has the perfect excuse to break up a winning side this weekend. we're playing an in form spurs and he's been talking up how the are a better side than us individually etc. therefore he has a tailor made excuse to drop one of the strikers to 'beef up numbers' in midfield. i.e. he's bigging up Ben Arfa and how epic he's looking in training...

No one would begrudge us trying to flood midfield with they players they have in the middle. will he be brave enough to call a games tactics on a match by match basis? the bigger sides such as Man utd and city have no trouble dropping their players after they've played a blinder. look at Dzeko earlier this season. he scored four away from home and was benched for the next match. pards needs to pick teams based on the opposition. but will he have the balls to use the perfect excuse? one of the strikers may be a little disappointed to be dropped but i'm sure they would understand given the opposition.

agreed. as Ba has been away on international duty we can take him off and bring best on later on to keep everyone happy too. i just hope pards in brave enough to bring on santon if raylor is getting a hiding, i.e. i hope he doesn't wait until it costs us dear to make the change too late.

Ba didn't play though so he should be raring to go.

I'd start off with the usual team and look to adapt it later on iof required with the introduction of Ben Arfa, Santon and Obertan.

I hope he does have the balls to change the team without feeling he doesnt want to 'upset' certain players.

I also hate Newcastle fans going on about how we shouldnt change a 'winning team' or 'dont fix what isnt broken'. Who the **** wants to see our side BREAK before we improve it?

    Santon in at left back.
Simpson or Raylor at right back, its debatable.
Ben Arfa for Best or Obertan, depending on which formation he decides to go with.

I think if Ben Arfa took over from Obertan though and he kept Simpson at left back then him and Gutierrez might have to swtch flanks due to them leaving that side wide open.

I can see Ben Arfa not starting though, and maybe coming on for Cabaye later on in the second half due to him being on international duty and getting that slight knock. Marveaux on for Gutierrez late on for the same reason.
As for Santon... who knows, if Raylor starts as left back.

    This!

And to be honest, I'm not sure if Ba is the right man to play up front on his own. Perhaps its just the roles they've been given, but for me, Best is the better hold up man, whilst Ba has more ability to drift out wide and cover more ground in front of the opposition back 4!

I think Bas link up play is actually very good but he does drop very deep to do it quite a bit which will obviously blunt us if he's playing alone up front.

although did he not spend most of his games at west ham playing the lone striker role? his goals ratio would suggest hes fairly adept at it.

Both Man U and Man City are unbeaten this season and they have changed their teams. I think if you can improve your team then you should do it even if they are unbeaten, and bringing in Ben Arfa, Santon and Marveaux would improve our team. There is no point in just waiting for your weak links to fail to change it.

I expect us to play an unchange side on Sunday but I hope we play:

    ----------------Krul---------------
    Simpson----Colo----Saylor----Santon
    Marveaux--Cabaye---Tiote-----Jonas
    --------------Ben Arfa--------------
    -----------------Ba-----------------

I really like the look of that team; that would be my lineup too because we can bring on best on the hour mark if we are in need of a goal and we can bring on obertan around the 70th minute regardless of the score and maybe even sameobi if we need it
