For me we have a real issue that needs to be resolved, and that is Jason Pearce ... let me get stuck in CAPTAIN I don't feel he should be leading the team ... he is not the steadiest defender and is error prone ... he doesn't show genuine leadership qualities because he has to concentrate so hard on his own shortcomings, and I don't think he is a student of the game who can take players aside and guide them ... I also didn't like his comment about "groups" forming off the pitch "because that's to be expected" ... no skipper, it's your job to pull everyone together DEFENDER As Eire I think it was correctly stated, Pearce doesn't have a lot of pace, and therefore its criminal how often he gets wrong side of the striker ... this means he is forced to battle to get back goal side, and tends to have his hands all over his opponent going into our box ... penalty!!! Pearce does look like he can get into trouble easily, and its a worry ... he also doesn't have the skill to play a confident passing game, and often threatens a spectator's Bovril rather than the opponent's formation ... our problem of course is he is our skipper, but I'd rather this is addressed quickly and Cooper comes in with Pearce dropping to the bench NEW COACH INTERVIEW Thought that as skipper he was very poor in the way he spoke about Milanic's appointment ... his "we will give him a chance" comment was damn disrespectful ... who the fcuk does Pearce think he is? His whole interview came across as downbeat, and he clearly doesn't fancy Milanic ... Pearce was happy under Hock because he could get away with being a donkey, plus Hock made him skipper ... Redders left him in because of the Captain's armband ... however, Cooper is head and shoulders above Pearce as a player, and what a luxury to have him and Bellusci together as ball playing defenders, it really gives the opposition something else to think about ... I think Pearce is uncomfortable because Milanic was an International defender and knows a thing or two about his position, and Pearce knows Cooper will shine Of course, the problem Milanic faces is he will have to drop the incumbent skipper to get Cooper into his team ... here's hoping he has the courage to do what he sees as right, and also get away from Tonge and the others who can't contribute effectively Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I agree his interview regarding the new coach was very disrespectful. I didn't like the way Pearce came across at all Pearce "I called him gaffer, but to be totally honest I don't know what to call him" How about Mr Milanic? That would be a good start you thick useless twat Darko Milanic is a former International CB captain of Slovenia. I'm sure if he sees Pearce is not good enough he won't hesitate to drop him and give the armband to someone else
Couldn't agree more, Billy. I'm also on record as one who suspects that he has been the common denominator in our defensive frailties to the extent that other CBs have been unfairly criticised for being at fault when it was often him that put them in that position. Take Lees, Zaliukas & Wooton last season. All 3 took stick for being shiite in a shiite defence - but Pearce didn't! I suspect it's all been his fault. Wooton may yet shine without him. Too late to find out about the others, although Lees looks like he's doing ok with the Wendies.
As the 7th goal went in on wednesday,I wonder how many wednesday fans were thinking how well he's doing.
Citeh even with their third string would beat just about every team in the championship if they wanted to.
Not all by 7 though.Just pointing out 1 of the flaws with the argument the other being, seen with my own eyes Lees and wooton being crap and it wasn't pearce it was all their own clumsy work.
If they hadn't taken the foot off the gas they would have put seven past us last year, plus the wendies kept attacking at three down, we put ten or eleven behind the ball from the first whistle.
How do you know city didn't take there foot off the gas against the wendys, and if they kept attacking at 3-4-5-6-7 down then they are just stupid.
Abject. Donut had well and truly lost the dressing room at that point and not one player gave a ****.
