    John O'Shea.

As sad as it is, I really think we need JOS back in the side. The reason is two-fold:

    1. Defensive organisation. It's clear to everyone our defence has been an absolute shambles for the last two games. The only thing that has changed since last season is Kaboul has replaced JOS - I think we need him in there keeping everyone organised. PVA in particular has been ****ing woeful without O'Shea's guidance.

    2. Cattermole. He's been ****. I think this is due to the pressure of the armband. He should NOT be captain, imo. Norwich's third was a result of him getting bypassed coz he had his back to play shouting orders. Think back a couple years, alot on here wanted Catts out, he was a liability. O'Shea came in, took the armband, and Cattermole played the best football of his entire career for two seasons straight. It's no coincidence imo. Take the armband off him, he will improve. And with Catts on his game our entire midfield becomes a much stronger unit.

I'm by no means O'Shea's biggest fan, but I really think the two points above easily offset his failings as a player. I'm not saying it will suddenly make everything right, but I honestly think it would be a massive step in the right direction...

    *Prepares to get slated*

I think you're right. Even I've noticed that his game suffers when he's got the armband.

Caatermole shouldn't be the captain. JOS, for all his shortcomings is the right choice.

O'Shea will be skipper next week imo, especially after that shower of ****e.

No leadership, no cohesion, no urgency and no direction.

It also looks like Cattermole has had issues with either the boss or his teammates after hearing his comments on MOTD 2 ...Wonder if he's been bollocked and hasn't took too well to criticism or something similar.

Either way, expect big changes - Watmore to start - Giaccherini to start - O'Shea to start - and a new face to start !

I don't care if he's captain next week, i just hope he starts. Not his biggest fan but we seem organised at the back when he plays, i'd even play Brown along side him and give the other two, Coates and Kaboul time on the training pitch. We need to steady the ship and stop the rot and quick.

This seems like a sensible thing to do, it's an easy solution and will help all of the back four it's been very noticeable how lost van Aanholt has looked without O'Shea inside of him to help him out. Cats has been bang out of form, whether that's because he has had the armband I don't know but he might need dropping if there isn't some big improvements pretty quickly.

    Swap Cattermole for O'Shea.

He played that role for us enough times and he adds height in CM then. He can provide added cover at the back also.

I agree with you. He is a better player than many on here give him credit for, it is stupid to persist with the shambles of the last two games. This makes sense

Catts is proving a very poor choice as captain, he is no leader, a poor footballer at best with a very suspect temperament, JOS is a so/so defender nearing the end of his career, but is a first class captain, leader and organiser. The rest of the players look up to him and he must be restored at once, with hindsight he should not have been dropped but slowly phased out hopefully by a top class defender, not a Spurs or Man U reject. DA is not the first to underestimate the power of a united dressing room and I think we are witnessing the end of another manager, I hope I am wrong here but am watching with interest, its never dull, painful yes, and that's for sure.

Cattermole is hopeless, I would play M'Vila is his position and play Whatmore in Midfield, Larsson should also go, play Giacc there we may have some creativity, at the back bring O'shea back and play Coates with him, we have a full back Tom Robson would he be worth a go left back?

I agree that O'Shea has to come in and possibly Brown too which shows you just how poor our recruitment is.

If I were o'shea I'd be incandescent with rage at not playing on Saturday given how bad the CB pairing were.

Re Giachh starting. He was there yesterday he wasn't injured so it suggests to me he's being sold or DA is talking b*llocks about a creative midfielder. He is way better than Sebs, Rodders or the others we currently have available.
Unbelievable he wasn't even on the bench yesterday.
