After an exhausting day of dealing with 2 kids and scouring social media (refresh, refresh, repeat.....) and all on my wedding anniversary I tried to take the day off of football - related stuff today. Nearly made it too...... Having slept on it and taken stock of it all I have come to the following conclusions: - so pleased that we only sold Simpson. A decent young player who will do well and did a good job for us. Would have been gutted if Onuhua had of gone like the press led us to believe. Hope he gets some well earned minutes. - Traore. Interesting one. Don't blame him for not going to Palace. Such a dump round there and will always be a bit of a grim club. Whether it's true or not that he wanted to stay or the money etc wasn't good enough, who cares. Has shown the ability to do what's needed and I think he can deliver with consistent selection. - Still have Hill and Dunne. I know there minutes will be limited. But so important to have these sorts of players in reserve. Completely unphased by it all and offer great leadership. - Hill. Again. Had a little look back through some of the wembley highlights today for nostalgia sake. This guy can't ever leave our club. He may be a scouser but he bleeds blue and white. He is up there with the Furlongs, Gallens etc..... a definite coaching/academy role for him in time. Still have visions of him chucking his head onto a goal-bound ball when we were losing 3-0 to Everton last year - Tony Fernandes. What a chairman. Looks like he could have a heart attack any minute though. Hope he gets what he deserves - premier league security. A legacy in the making. - all the other signings. Don't know much about Isla and Vargas. But all signings seem to be the 'right sort'. Top signing in Sandro and McCarthy and secretly quite chuffed to see a slimmer Kranjcar back. If we can Taarabt back on track we have the makings of a competitive team. Still left with SWP. But you can't win them all ;-) Can't wait for Stoke game.
Cheers lads and congrats Rhino - another year in. 1st of Sept 2007 - the day I got married and possibly the day Flabio and Co saved us. So funny...
Your welcome dude. Got some stuff on at the moment but my other half has suggested we get you over for dinner some day. A proper way to say thanks for helping us out with the laptop. Without it we'd be in deep doo doo at the moment. EDIT: That includes your other half too obviously if you can get a baby sitter.
