I posted on here about my worries regards Norwich and West Ham in their struggles to stay up this season, well after today's FA cup result Norwich fans must be really concerned, what a magnificent result for Luton, and old saggy chops resting half his team certainly backfired,Villa's nightmare just continues and I think those results will do little too boost confidence. The Magpies are lucky there are at least three poorer teams below them at the minute.

Thats the problem there are 3 worse teams than them, shame.
Hopefully Villa will make a remarkable recovery on Tuesday although admittedly I cannot see it.

As was pointed out the other day there is always a team who starts quite reasonably and then falls away after Christmas. Norwich are in trouble. West ham in danger too. You won't need 40 points to stay up this season in my opinion.

I think mid-to-late 30's which means we (Newcastle) may only need 5 more wins - or 3/4 more wins and some draws.

Entirely theoretical given the way we are playing at the moment of course. 30 points seems quite a way off!

With our new signings I'm hoping we will prove harder to beat now and we get a sustained 90 minutes of football every match instead of 45. We needed a new striker but plugging the holes at the back is what has cost us most this season. Reading proved that.

Think high 30s mate 37 and up should be enough this season don't think you lot were in that much trouble anyway just on a bad run.

Well we aren't out of trouble yet. The run might well continue at villa. This is the game to stop the rot like, just hope we get straight at them. Good chance taylor will start this one given villa can't defend a set piece and he is our only real goal threat from a set piece.

Villa are ropey as hell mate you should roll them over with no attackers on the pitch.

Well we play Villa away and norwich h and we could and might come a cropper in those games. We should win at villa and QPR draw at Reading, and Newcastle, lose at Chelsea and Spurs draw at WBA beat Fulham, Norwich, Stoke, Soton at home draw with Swansea, Everton and Arsenal, lose to Man u. 24 points at best but allow 3 less and we should finish with 49 points.

Lose at Villa on Tuesday and it will be more than a bad run kidda. They are dropping faster than a Benwell girls knickers on the promise of some cheesy chips so to lose to them will be disastrous imo.

Its a game neither can afford to lose and yet a draw is a bad result too. Both of them need a win desperately, to stop the rot and bring some confidence.

If we had 5 games left a loss would be catastrophic. However, losing this one wont be the be all and end all of our season as there is no real break away with the teams down here as yet. With Norwich and west ham dropping in to the mix also. Our home games are what will keep us up. However, villa away and Wigan away are games we should be taking something from.

Agreed both have got to go out to win it as a draw while not the end of the world would do both clubs no favours at all. Seem to remember us being on a similar run at about the same time as well under Bruce, we then coughed, spluttered and farted our way to 10th reckon the barcodes will be not too far from us come the end of the season, below us but not too far.

It depends how the new frogs respond. It is a gamble to bring in overseas players in numbers with little time to let them gel. But under the circumstances, without new players, the mags looked down. It could go either way. Villa game is massive for both sides.

Fair points. At a gamble signing any player however, even players swapping between prem teams don't always work out. The new signings will have no trouble settling it at the club. The pace of the league could well catch them out but I assume we will only see them sparingly unless injuries start creeping back in. Lack of an option on the bench has killed is this season.
