Do we need to feel aggrieved as supporters or taxpayers over this absolutely farcical deal that West Ham have got themselves? It seems they negotiated incredibly well, to the point that the stadium owners actually lose money every time they host a West Ham match because the rent doesn't cover the costs. This is a taxpayer funded development, which saw further taxes spent on changing the layout to accommodate West Ham. Is that fair to other clubs? Given that the stadium is incurring huge losses, it's effectively like saying taxpayers are providing West Ham a grant funding scheme, even though 99.9% of taxpayers will support an opposing club, and the owners of the stadium are complicit in this ridiculousness. I mean, we know West Ham fans are proverbially blowing bubbles over moving from Upton Park, and being a mile from the pitch, and the outer perimeter being green rather than their colours, and they keep losing at home etc etc. Maybe they need to shut the **** up, or else pay £10k a season ticket to release the funds back to the public.
Can't really gripe about the deal West Ham managed to negotiate from a West Ham perspective. They didn't do anything wrong as such. The blame lies entirely upon whoever negotiated the deal from the Stadiums's perspective. It's the old footballer's wages arguement; if you're offered £55,000 per week would you turn it down and say no, you're only worth £40,000 per week.
Not to get too political, but this is the best example of the kind of deal Boris Johnson can manage when given control. He handed them a stadium for a pittance.
The dildo brothers had Newham council’s pants down clearly. Karma though has decreed that it’s a soulless place which the fans can not connect to so they are doomed.....
