Not sure at that it's good news, but Lasse Vigen Christensen has been selected for the Danish Olympic team. please log in to view this image http://www.bold.dk/fodbold/nyheder/uffe-bech-og-vibe-med-danmark-til-ol/ Pleased for him obviously. However the Olympic dates (starts on 5th August) clash horribly with the new season. We'll lose him for all of August and perhaps beyond !!!
You could be right FAB. There's nothing about it on the official Denmark site (or related ones) and he is still shown as being a squad member. However, Denmark play their first game in Brasilia against Iraq on 4th August (Thursday!) and LVC was at Motspurk Park today for a Club photoshoot. If true, he's bound to be a bit disappointed but I'm sure he's professional enough to understand the Club's (that is, Slavi's) decision.
Slavi has held up his hands for LVC not going to Rio. He told the local paper, "It was my decision as our squad is very short," Jokanovic said. "I understand it is the Olympic Games and it is a very nice opportunity for sportsmen and it can be one time in the life, but he is a football player. At the end of the month all of us is waiting for a wage and our obligation is working here in Fulham." "Fortunately, the Olympics is not in the international days where I am obligated to send people for their national team." "From one side I understand he can be a little bit unhappy, but he can understand where he is and our first choice is Fulham. I can decide I want to be in different places in different moments. But my obligation is to be here and be ready because I am a professional coach like he is a professional football player."
