After last season's blip when Luis Suarez (also featuring LFC) managed to finish 3rd in the Prem, his departure has seen things settle back down to the old order, the Prem's top 5 sides finishing in their usual positions. I think even Mousers would have to admit that they would have punched well above their weight had they managed to finish 5th, and that handing the spot back to Spurs was, in the cold light of day, probably for the best. Had 'Pool (undeservedly) finished 5th, it would have given Mousers the false impression that 'Pool was a decent side with a decent manager. With the Old Order re-established, the Top 5 can push on without being distracted by unnecessary bollocks from the 'Pool-loving media. I think we can all agree that that can only be to the supreme benefit of all football lovers. It was a shame, perhaps, that Gerrard played his last ever game for 'Pool in, what turned out to be, the heaviest defeat he has personally suffered in a 'Pool shirt. Some ungracious Mousers will say that Brenda Rodgers was unable even to give Merseyside's greatest ever son the send-off that he deserved. That's a debate for another day. For now, I think we should all simply pause in relief, and reflect on the comforting news that the Old Order has been re-established, and all look forward to next season. By all means, please, contribute to this thread, but (as always) respect the feelings and sensibilities of others and let's all work hard to keep this a wum-free zone. Thank you.
Considering they sold their best player who carried the team - in fact, they were a one man team to be fair - and they pissed away all the money and an extra £40M on mediocre players, 6th is a damn fine finish. Well done Brendan
I agree, Little Luke. Mousers can have little to complain about, in reality. Most normal pundits would have put their chances at no higher than 7th or 8th, at the start of the season.
The Old Order ? You mean the Top Four don't you ? or are you now claiming that finishing 5th is a big deal and like winning a trophy (Mike Cashley states that finishing 4th is a trophy!) or are you just pleased to be above Liverpool again who like Sours sold their best player and reinvested it in absolute dross
Juve getting to the CL final and Napoli & Fiorentina getting to the Europa semis is not going to help England getting the 4th CL place
How many times have Spurs been up there again? remind me how many times you were in the CL? Given how we have "fallen" you still have one CL adventure to your name and you call it the "old order " Spurs have vertigo, anytime you get near the top 4 you get dizzy and fall down the table I guess being an outcast on you own board leaves you with threads like this on the PL board. Still claiming you're a lawyer?
Unlike Spurs who lost Bale and pissed away 100m and finished even lower than us last season Irony is not enough, #megarony
That was my point. We must be needing a decent performance from next season's lot or Italy will rightly be getting the place. No idea what would need to happen for this to be the case though.
What a can of worms! Keep the comments coming, lads. And thanks for holding off on the wumming front. It just goes to show that we can engage in good honest, constructive debate, if we really try.
Thanks to Chelsea's performances in Europe 2012-14 we are miles ahead of Italy. No need for Arsenal or United to sweat on top 4 trophy yet
You are talking to him like he's a Spurs supporter? Why would Luke care whether Spurs had wasted the Bale money or not? Ironically.
Someone told me Spurs have finished above mega club Liverpool five seasons out of six. I'm gonna look it up. Guess five seasons out of six would constitute an order
How many times over the last 6 seasons have Spurs finished above 'Pool? You Mousers are good with history. How many times do we have to keep finishing above you before it becomes blindly obvious that we are the bigger and more powerful club? How many times over the past 6 seasons, other than once, have 'Pool been in the CL? How many times in the past 6 seasons, have 'Pool finished in the top 5?[/quote] I don't have to claim.
