As a old school type my heart is with the old one, with the terracing down the front of the scoreboard & United Rd, the Scoreboard & Stretford paddocks, the United Rd Paddock, and of course the Stretford End, and my old haunt the Tunnel. As a family man today is safer and more comfortable, but I do miss those days, the noise, the buzz, and the general scene. times move on and change is inevitable, but it is nice to get nostalgic sometimes - especially whilst bored in work. so old or new anybody - KPR don't even think about it
Only just remember the standing areas, as I was only a kid back then. The last memory of standing was being pressed against the fencing in the early eighties. The atmosphere inside OT can be a little subdued if your not in the Stretford End or near K stand, as lot of the families and 'daytrippers' (dont like that term) fill the North and South stands. If Utd could find some way of having safe standing areas again, then I think the atmosphere/noise would inprove. And lets face it the top tier of the Stretford End and the away section are always standing anyway.
Yeah I remember the old OT.Trains that dropped you off right next to the ground. The old souvenir shop that was so small it was like opening your presents on christmas day in your own front room. The atmosphere from the standing areas and the fact you could get throw out of one end by a copper for avin a laugh and get in the scoreboard paddock or the stretford end if youd been in the scoreboard.Having said all that apart from the standing issue the ground is a massive improvement and I wouldnt want to go back to the old one.Happy old days but heres to all the happy new ones!
Too young to have experienced the old, Old Trafford but I know that anyone who experienced the atmosphere at any ground during the terracing era whom I've spoken to, said the atmosphere was much better. I don't get to OT that often but I was at the Chelsea game in 09/10 (when they beat us 2-1) and the atmosphere was very poor, given the magnitude of the game. I was in the Stretford End but even there, it wasn't exactly a cauldron of noise, even before Chelsea took the lead.
