Hello and welcome to the official thread for our pre-season campaign. Liverpool are heading off to America this summer to take on a variety of sides and then returning back to England for at least one more pre-season game. Our schedule at the moment is as follows:

July 21st 2012: Toronto FC Vs Liverpool. (21.00)

This is our first game under the leadership of Brendan Rodgers and sees us take on MLS side Toronto FC. The game is scheduled to be played at the Rogers Centre in Toronto and should be a good test for the players currently on the books!

Final Score: Toronto FC 1-1 Liverpool.

Liverpool began their pre-season with a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Toronto FC. Quincy Amarikwa had given Toronto FC the lead in the 58th minute but Adam Morgan drew Liverpool level (With his first senior Liverpool goal!) in the 69th minute.

25th July 2012: AS Roma Vs Liverpool. (23.30)

This is our second game of the tour and sees us play at the home of the Boston Red Sox who are owned by John W Henry and FSG. AS Roma are one of the biggest clubs in Italy and have many well-known players such as Francesco Totti, Daniele De Rossi and Gabriel Heinze.

Final Score: AS Roma 2-1 Liverpool.

Goals from Michael Bradley & Alessandro Florenzi in the 63rd and the 69th minute respectively meant that Liverpool fell to their first defeat in the pre-season campaign. A 80th minute goal from substitute Charlie Adam wasn't enough for Liverpool as they lost 2-1.

28th July 2012: Liverpool Vs Tottenham Hotspur. (18.00)

This is our final game of the pre-season tour to America and sees us take on fellow Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur. The game is to be played at the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore and will see two newly appointed managers lock horns. Brendan Rodgers will be looking to lead Liverpool to a good result in the final game of the tour whilst Andre-Villas Boas will be looking to see his Spurs side put in a good performance.

Final Score: Liverpool 0-0 Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur played out a 0-0 draw in this pre-season game. It was a game with few chances and in the first half, Aaron Lennon his the post from 2 yards out!

Apart from that, not too much to report. Good workout for both sides.

After the pre-season tour, Liverpool will have to face a two-leg Europa League qualifier. After this, there is one pre-season game left.

12th August 2012: Liverpool Vs Bayer Leverkusen. (15.00)

Scheduled to take place at Anfield, the Reds will welcome Bayer Leverkusen. This should be a popular game considering who is the manager of Leverkusen...

Sami Hyypia is now in charge of Leverkusen and will get a great reception from the Liverpool fans after spending 10 years at Anfield and putting in countless outstanding performances.

Final Score: Liverpool 3-1 Bayer Leverkusen.

Liverpool finished their pre-season with an excellent 3-1 win over Sami Hyypia's Bayer Leverkusen. Raheem Sterling opened the scoring in the 3rd minute after cuttting inside and curling a loverly shot into the corner of the net. The returning Lucas Leiva then had a tap-in to double the score in the 29th minute.

Andy Carroll then had a shot from outside the box squirm under the 'keeper in the 65th minute to give Liverpool a 3-0 lead. Bayer Leverkusen did pull one back in the 75th minute when Sidney Sam got a goal.

That wasn't enough to spark a comeback though and the game finished at 3-1.

    Squad:

Goalkeepers: Peter Gulacsi, Brad Jones & Danny Ward.

Defenders: Daniel Agger, Jamie Carragher, Jon Flanagan, Stephen Sama, Brad Smith, Glen Johnson, Jose Enrique, Martin Skrtel, Danny Wilson, Martin Kelly, Ryan McLaughlin, Andre Wisdom & Jack Robinson.

    Maybe... <whistle>

Seriously, I thought this type of thread would be easier than doing a match thread for every pre-season game like last season. Not sure I would have the time to do seperate match threads over the summer anyway so doing this thread is easier and better for everyone.

Literally cant wait to see how we line up this season, Im very interested to see what happens to Aqualani, in the back of my mind I believe his future lies in Italy and we will receive a bid for him at some point, if this is the case, I do not want to see him in the pre season teams like last year where he was probably our most impressive player. It just makes it all the more depressing when Charlie Adam comes into the team.

It would be nice if we can do a bit of business prior to jetting off so the new boys can acclimatise with the group before the big kick off.

I see Suarez is in the olympic squad, no rest for the wicked !

For those who are interested, we are holding a press conference about the tour to America and probably various other things.

Due to begin at 12PM and includes Rodgers and two of our first team squad. I suspect a transcript of the press conference will be put up on the Liverpool website after it's finished and I shall try and get that up on here when I can.

Wasn't sure who would be available, thought he may be there as he didn't play but you are probably right.

Mexico is North America? I'm sure we've had this argument before and seeing as Bluff lives in America I'm backing the yank.

It is part of North America but part of it is Central as well. It hinges on both really.

Research, google, **** try wiki if you aren't sure. <ok>

i'm backing us to lose 2 of our tour games and be under a bit of pressure (from idiots) to win or our season will be over!

all in all i think having such a tour when a major tournament is on is silly. there are two years out of 4 when no majors are on and if some one wants to go to the confed cup or copa we can accommodate that and a long distance tour.... going to north america to be performing seals for 100 years of fenway IMO is rather pointless so we could be handed our heads and be embaressed given how few players we might really be taking.

    for the record i think

    Doni
    Flanagan Carra skertl enrique
    Shelvey Spearing Adam
    Sterling NEW GUY cole/maxi

I predict we'll buy someone to play upfront by the time we go off on tour... will be interesting to see how roma and spurs look then...

One of the reasons I took a step back on going to these games. It wouldn't be the full team and sorry to Spearing and Shelvey but you are not the lot I want to see, Pepe, Gerrard, Suarez, Agger, those are the boys I want to see.

Just means save up and head to the mecca MITO, you buying? <ok>
