The players have slouched in to pre-season looking as brown as a teenage mother, the new signings have arrived and now the new season starts to edge ever nearer. On Saturday, we play our first pre-season friendly, travelling down to Preston for a 15:00 GMT Kick-off. The reds will be without Reina, Suarez, Borini and Coates due to international tournaments, while Daniel Sturridge is not set to travel, but should be fit for the new season. The game will take place at Deepdale (which holds the Bill Shanky Kop), for anyone who plans on going (none-plastics) here's a little away fans guide. (page filler). Away fans are housed in the modern Bill Shankly Kop at one end of the pitch. Normally the allocation for away fans is approximately half of this stand (3,000 seats). However for teams with a large away support, then the whole end can be allocated, raising the allocation to 6,000. The views of the playing action and facilities within this stand are excellent. The stand is particularly steep, meaning that fans are kept relatively close to the pitch. On the concourse there are TV's by the refreshment serving areas showing the game live and with the bars being open during the game, this is too much of a temptation for some. There is a wide range of food available including; Cheeseburgers (£3.40), Burgers (£3.20), Hot Dogs (£3.30), Meat & Potato Pie (£2.50), Chicken Balti Pie (£2.50), Steak & Kidney Pie (£2.50) and the Potato & Butter Pie (£2.50). James Prentice adds; 'I would recommend the 'Butter Pie', which is a bit of a local delicacy. It is just a normal pie but with a filling of very buttery mashed potato and onion. I was attracted to it by a flag at the top of the new Invincibles Stand that read 'True Prestonians Love a Butter Pie!' Gripping stuff eh? Preston finished 14th in League One last season finishing on 59 points, scoring 55 goals in the process. There you have it. Injury list. Liverpool: Daniel Sturridge - Ankle/Foot Injury Preston: Couldn't find any. Aspas, Alberto, Toure and Mignolet are all expected to make debut's for the reds, albeit either as a sub or as a starter. Thought I'd get this thread out early, feels good to have a LFC match to talk to about, albeit a pre-season friendly.
Judging by a lot of friendlies like this I expect a lot of young players to play, apart from ones who have been at Tournaments. Robinson, Flanagan, Ibe, Adjoran, Morgan, Yesil, N'Goo, Sama, McGlaughlin. This will be a good chance for Rodgers to get a good look at them though. This will also be a good game for Kelly to get playing and get going again. ----------------Jones------------------ -Flanagan-Kelly-Toure-Robinson- --------------Allen-Lucas------------- ----Morgan-------------------Ibe----- -----------Aspas-----Yesil------------- McGlaughlan, Luis Alberto, Samma, Mignolet, N'Goo, Coutinho to be subbed on.
Is Yesil back fit yet? Will also be interesting to see if Gerrard is deemed fit enough, seeing as Lucas played straight away last season. Can't wait to see Aspas and Alberto play!
I expect Gerrard to just watch. I'm not even sure if Allen will play even though I wrote him in my team. I just realised I put Toure in my team twice .
--------------Toure---------------- -Toure-Toure-Toure-Toure----- -----------Toure-Toure----------- ----Toure---------------Toure----- -----------Toure---Toure---------- Bench: Toure, Toure, Toure, Toure, Toure, Toure, Toure, Toure, Toure, Toure. Better?
The match will probably be shown 2 hours after the game on LFC TV, alternatively you can watch it on Liverpoolfc.tv if you have a subscription, or of course on ESPN. If not, streaming it is
