The game isn't on the T.V but streams will be posted before the game which is scheduled to kick-off at 7.45PM on Tuesday. Preview. What a difference a week makes in football. After Liverpool's defeat at Bolton in their last league match Kenny Dalglish was as angry and frustrated as I've seen him since he returned as the Reds' manager, but then equally he was elated and passionate when he witnessed the two Anfield results in the cup competitions. It was the perfect response from his team and one he demanded. Now they must try and replicate that form on a more consistent level in the Premier League if they are to try and make their target of a top-four finish a more realistic one. A run of just one win in six league games has increased that challenge for the months ahead. I remember commentating on this exact fixture a little over a year ago, a game that produced Dalglish's first win of his second spell in charge. Fernando Torres scored twice, Raul Meireles once and Christian Poulsen played in midfield in a victory that moved Liverpool up to 11th, but much has changed since then. The progression is there for all to see but by Dalglish's own admission there is still plenty of work to do, and another performance or result like the one he witnessed at the Reebok Stadium would quickly wipe away all the cup euphoria. This match is just as crucial to Wolves in their battle for survival. Eight Premier League games without a win has left them looking over their shoulder and they will have been using their empty weekend to analyse defensive matters. It's 19 games since they kept a clean sheet and the fact that they have conceded two or more goals in each of their last four matches at home will be an obvious concern. You won't find a more honest manager than Mick McCarthy and he'll know they need to put some points on the board quickly, especially as they face fellow relegation candidates Queens Park Rangers, West Brom and Blackburn in the next month or so. Talk of his job being in danger seems ridiculous to me given the resources available. There has to be a sense of realism; if he goes on to keep Wolves up again that will be a major achievement. With that, and Liverpool's desire for a top-four finish, it could be a pivotal evening a Molineux. Match preview taken from http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16695917.stm. Injury News. Mick McCarthy said in his presser today that Kenny wanted to play 2moros game on Wednesday.Apparently McCarthy said Kenny said he had transfer plans, and wanted to play the game a day later due to that, despite Kenny saying there where gonna be no ins or outs in his conferenece earlier today Is Kenny up to something!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Typical Liverpool form suggests that we're set to drop points in this one, so I'm a bit worried, particularly since Fletcher seems to have a knack of scoring against the top sides. Nevertheless I'm going to go for a scrappy 2-1 win for Liverpool.
Another in a long line of "must win" games for us. We've got to win one of them sometime. 3-1 for us.
would like a wolves view on this but I think those injuries are mainly midfielders and not sure who they got to step in so that could be a big problem for them. Nice thread as usual chris.
Nice one young man. Let's hope we can avoid the massively anticipated anti-climax after our successes of last week. Come on you Reds!
not on sky, they have matches on SS2... All i know is that wolves have been working very very hard but not getting many breaks the past few weeks. If we turn up with anything less than our best and without enough forwards on the pitch (i.e 2 plus wingers) we will not get a result. I am unsure what kenny will do as bellamy is a must v the spuds.... do we bring him on at 60mins again?
The team Kenny picks has got to be attacking, aggressive and positive This is far and away our MOST IMPORTANT FIXTURE OF THE LAST 3 GAMES.We must win, but I am not confident.
no it's not. we won the two biggest games and got to a final v a championship side to get silverware and europe. we've brighton in the 5th round fot he cup at home as well. In all fairness our form indicates 4th is just not going to happen so the europa slot for the carling cup is vital for us... VITAL When rafa came first we finsihed where? when houllier had a full season we finished where? I'm confident that we'll get back to the top but we have not got the team to go do it this year. Wolves? hard game, they can't defend for 90 but we can't attack for more than baout 35-40mins in the game... i hope we get an early goal.
I totally disagree, CL attracts TOP QUALITY players, therefore the League is miles more important then the cups Really hope we start with Downing left,Kuyt Right, with Carroll and Bellamy up front. The way we finished the game v United
Hope I'm wrong but I think it will be 4-5-1 Carroll up front on his own with Bellamy saved for the weekend. Don't think this will work particularly well as Carroll will just be marked and bullied out of the game without anyone to support him or take defenders away from him with runs behind. I'm expecting quite a poor game 0-0 till around 70 mins unless somebody scores from a set piece then probably Bellamy will come on to support Carroll and we may nick it. I reckon 0-0 or 1-0 to us.
