Hello and welcome to the official Not606 match thread for Saturday's Barclays Premier League encounter between Liverpool & Queens Park Rangers. Season So Far. I'll start with the home team, Liverpool. Liverpool have had a solid season so far. We currently sit 7th in the Barclays Premier League table with 23 points from 14 games. We've had some good results against Everton (2-0 victory at Goodison Park), Arsenal (2-0 victory at the Emirates) and two wins against Chelsea in 9 days. (2-1 in the league & 2-0 in the Carling Cup.) The problem with our season has been games in which we should be winning if we are to challenge for the top four. Draws against Norwich City and Swansea City have been disappointing results for us and we need to start another good run of form if we are to challenge for a place in the top 4 and a return to Champions League football. And onto the away team, Queens Park Rangers. Q.P.R have had a mixed season so far. The West London side sit 12th in the Premier League table with 16 points from 14 games. They have picked up some good results against Wolverhampton Wanderers (A 3-0 victory at Molineux) a derby victory over Chelsea (1-0 victory at Loftus road) and a victory at Stoke. (3-2 away win) They have also had some poor results. A 2-0 loss at Wigan wasn't the best result and a 6-0 loss at Fulham meant that their goal difference took a significant hit. It currently stands at -10. Despite these results, I think Q.P.R fans will be happy with their current league position and would take it at the end of the season. Team/Injury News. Every time I predict a win, we draw or lose, so im going for a 0-6 win to QPR in a reverse psychology type thing.
Opta Stats: Liverpool v QPR Heidar Helguson has been heroic for the Hoops, scoring six in seven starts Liverpool have dropped points at home to Norwich and Swansea - will fellow newcomers QPR be similarly successful at Anfield? Here's what Opta say... QPR have won just one of their 20 league visits to Anfield (W1 D2 L17). QPR have only won one of the eight Premier League meetings with Liverpool (W D1 L6), but the last of these games came in February 1996. Liverpool are unbeaten in their last seven Premier League games at Anfield, but have drawn the last four in a row. QPR have hit the target with just 35% of their attempts this season, a lower percentage than any other team. Liverpool have hit the woodwork 12 times in the Premier League, more often than any other team. QPR have used 24 different players in their starting line-up this season, more than any other team. Of all players to have scored three or more PL goals this season, Luis Suárez has the lowest shot conversion rate (7.6%). Only Wigan (8%) have converted a lower percentage of shots into goals than Liverpool this season (9%). The Reds have the joint-best defensive record this season, conceding just 13 goals so far. QPR have suffered more fouls than any other team in the Premier League this season (199). http://betting.betfair.com/football/opta/opta-stats-liverpool-v-qpr-081211.html
Kenny has spent 100 million more on players than us this year, you should be hitting us for more than two old boy. And I fully expect you to as well, with Carroll coming good ( for once)
This looks interesting, for anyone with a spare hour! http://www.anfieldindex.com/4514/liverpool-queens-park-rangers.html#tb
Mason referees QPR trip to Liverpool Wed 07th Dec 2011 16:50 by Clive Whittingham QPR have referee Lee Mason in charge of their game this weekend for the first time this season – Mason refereed two crucial televised clashes in the R’s promotion season last term. http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/footba...89&title=mason_referees_qpr_trip_to_liverpool QPR summon spirit of 91 to try and improve Liverpool record – history Wed 07th Dec 2011 18:36 by Clive Whittingham If QPR are to secure an unlikely victory against Liverpool on Saturday, they’ll have to overcome a dreadful record on this ground to do so. The solitary win to date came in 1991, inspired by Les Ferdinand. http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/footba...to_try_and_improve_liverpool_record_–_history
For some reason I'm quitely confident that we can nick a point, mind we could end up getting tonked but i doubt it!!!
Opportunity knocks, are Liverpool equipped to answer? Opposition focus Thu 08th Dec 2011 20:36 by Clive Whittingham Liverpool are yet to win a league title in the Premiership era despite continued success in domestic and European knock out competitions. Are they about to miss another chance to change all of that? http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/fb_news.php?storyid=15105
ok i want to say two things. 1. Not606 has this absolutely super thread going for it. I have personally loved these "offical" match threads and greatly enjoyed the swansea, norwich and stoke threads amongst others. It's really really great to have this sort of semi match preview, semi banter, and just plain meet and greet from up and down the country. for these threads 2. Lee mason.... god anyone think bartons in big trouble after hearing that clown is reffing the game? mind you he's the type that might be coming with an agenda to make a name for the guy who deals with suarez too.
